Cinnamon
Sorry to hear you have been unwell Last time I had an op under general,it took me a good week to recover & like you it was a minor in & out in a day job. Just try to rest. There are a lot of nasty bugs around at the moment - my youngest has one along with Shingles,so I guess if you are really struggling to recover, you may have picked something up from someone? Chicken shack
I have the same problem, on one occasion I had wisdom teeth out and ended staying for three days. I get terrible migrains which also make me sick and I suffer from travel sickness. I made a descion after flying in Sept that I would never fly again. I wonder if there is a conection Do you get migrains Try not not to lay down to much even if it means sitting in a comfy chair and dozing off and drink plenty of water, sip it rather than gulp. Go to bed early and when you do get up in the morning go check on your girls so you get some fresh air, but wrap up warm. You may also feel depressed untill you have fully recovered. Keep us posted, get well soon.
SarahJo
Thanks - we all had flu over Christmas, so probably remnants of that in addition. I have suffered from labyrinthitis before, and I feel a bit like that plus pains in back and shoulders still from where they inflated me with carbon dioxide
Snowy
Sarahjo, it does take a few weeks for the full effects of the anaesthetic to wear off, almost longer than it takes the wounds to heal! I'm going in for an op on Thursday so will be able to compare notes afterwards
SarahJo
Hope it goes well snowy. I know us ladies are more likely than men to vomit after coming round, but not much is mentioned regarding the sometimes longer lasting side-effects
abwsco
I'd say definately drink loads of water and also should you need one again tell them about your reaction this time.

Alis girls
I was fine immediately after - possibly even high - but felt quite down tired and out of sorts for a few weeks later. Dont rush it and good luck Snowy. Get well soon
JM
It took me the best part of a week to recover last year. But if you've also had the flu, it could well be the remnants of that - my OH had the flu over Christmas and he's still tired - which is most unlike him! Hope you feel better soon - and don't overdo it in the meantime! Jill
Geoid
I was fine immediately after - possibly even high That was probably the morphine
SarahJo
Fred ..... They gave me something BEFORE the sleepy stuff - made me feel well out of it (which I did not like) - do not think it was Morphine though, as it makes my head go really hot inside I have been feeling a little better over the last day or so, but have resorted to taking Cylclizine to help with the nausea. The pain in my shoulders is still prominent, especially the right - am off to GP tomorrow as need a sick-note, so hopefully she will give me a good MOT and some advice while I am there. SarahJo
Back from Docs - shoulder pain due to carbon dioxide which can last for 2 weeks post op. Nausea controlled as necessary with cyclizine - so more rest over weekend and back to work on Monday. Thanks for all the replies
