Blood Pressure Monitor

Recommended Posts

OH has been advised by our doctor to keep a check on his blood pressure and to measure it at various times for the next however long. :anxious:

Can anyone recommend a reliable but not overly expensive machine that's suitable for him to use at home and while travelling? I've looked at the Boots and Lloyds Pharmacy websites and the price range is staggering.

Thanks

Yes we use Omron at work, they are a very reliable make. I use one to monitor my own BP.

Also, if you have an iphone or ipod, you can download the iBP app. Only costs about £1 and you can input all your results - it creates pretty little graphs to show your GP. Mine loves it!

I have an Omron, it's very good and keeps a record of your blood pressure over time.

I have severe white coat syndrome and my BP hits the roof at the surgery. Normally it's in the top quartile of normal, but I do keep an eye on it as there is family history.

I saved six weeks daily readings to show doc and we took my BP with my machine and with his and the readings were identical, so in my opinion I think it's fairly accurate. I think I paid about £35 for mine, it was on offer.

There are so many side effects with BP drugs that I never want to go on those.

Thanks everyone :-)

We tried to get one from Lloyds today, they have them on special offer but they had sold out  Will have a look at Omron on Amazon. He's been checking his pulse using his phone - HTC somethingorother - part of the reason he went to see the doc today. I'm on the point of going with him, he thinks his reading was 140/80 but it could have been 140/90 or somewhere around there  Honestly!

You know I have this too and the last time after 3 visit I told her not to bother as I knew before I went in the door I was through the roof. I was lent the loan one and took it for a week - result no hbp at all - white coat syndrome!
