I'm happy because this time I can tick English - I haven't even read the rest of the form yet.

They sent out forms to everyone in Uni, in English and Welsh ... then we got emails yesterday saying they were the household ones, we need to give them back in and get the Student ones!?

How many trees has that wasted? Surely they'd know to send out the right forms! Don't know if thats happened at other Unis.

Interestingly we were supposed to complete a census as well this year. I think it was meant to be on March 16th, but I can't remember as unfortunately it's been delayed because of so many people being displaced from Christchurch.....I think that completing census forms was likely to be pretty low on their list of priorities under the circumstances. I suspect that's several acres of trees wasted though with all those unused forms.

 

Anyway, don't know why it interested me...just seems odd that both countries are planning on conducting censuses at around the same time. Wonder if it's a coincidence, or a commonwealth thing? Are other nations completing censuses this month....could be a big global survey thing. Ooooh, we're all being watched

When they say to put down who is in the house on the 27th,do they mean those who have stayed over on the night of the 26th & who are there upon waking on the 27th,or those who are staying over on the night of the 27th?

 

I ask because its my daughters 18th birthday party on the 26th & we will have about 20 teens here on the morning of the 27th

'any visitors staying overnight at your home on Sunday 27 March should be included on your household’s questionnaire.' so I think you're OK !!

Mine was delivered yesterday afternoon.

 

Had a little giggle because the Census man was trying to take a few details from me and Snowdrop, Primrose and Daisy where climbing over his feet trying to get into the house. When he left to get into his car thirteen Chickens followed him looking for a treat. His walk down the drive to his car got faster and faster and the Chicken's wings just flapped a little harder to keep up

I rarely see the Eon meter readers, but one caught me the other lunchtime. I allowed him to read the electricity meter which is just inside the door but he was too terrified of the tall lurchers (soft as socks) to come in and read the gas meter, so I did that for him. They were going through his pockets too

Had ours here about a week ago. I havn't opened it though as we are moving tomorrow Hope there is one in the new house for me to fill in after i've finished all the unpacking etc!

We were discussing the census at work today and I realised my work friend who is Polish knew nothing about the Census. She doesn't watch British TV, read British newspapers or listens to British radio although her English is excellent so hasn't seen or heard the information advert for the census. She was quite concerned about filling in the form and thought it was something sinister I had to reasure her that it was all OK and nothing to worry about (she tells me things about her life growing up in Poland that are quite sad and sometimes shocking although she laughs about some of the things now).

 

She hasn't received her form yet so I will take mine in to work tomorrow for her to have a look at, I see there is a bit on the back of the information sheet in Polish so maybe I can help her contact someone to see if the form is available in Polish. Her Husband doesn't speak English so if she is out when the Census person calls with the form for them they wouldn't be able to get a response from her Husband.

Just refer her to the Domesday Book and it's all the Normans fault. It's a tradition (seeing as some bright spark somewhere in the past thought it was a brilliant idea)! A very intrusive one at that - hence our rebellion in a teeny section.

I saved it,but didn't submit it,however its not allowing me to access it again to make any changes/finish completing it.

I tried the helpline,which was rubbish.

I couldn't even understand what the phone operator was saying,her accent was so strong

Theres a student thing to tick ANH so I'd just fill in the Uni one and then home as if he's there aswell?

 

We filled our original ones in but they were the wrong books so we all have to fill in individual ones instead now!
