Cinnamon
Not sure why,but I think I quite fancy having this done & wearing a teeny tiny little sparkly gem in it (when not at work ) My youngest has it & it really suits her - I think it looks better on people with strong faces rather than the chocolate-box pretty types. Anyhow, does it hurt?
snowberry
I had my nose pierced years ago. Yup it hurts, but only for a bit, & then it will throb for a bit. Why are you worried? You've given birth I used to wear a sparkley stud without a backing & it was fine.
PurpleTree
I used to & mostly had a teeny purple stud in it. I had it done at a festival (where I met hubby) & they did it with a gun. Didn't hurt at the time, although I fainted (I'm rubbish with needles & things). I just remember it throbbing a lot for the rest of the day. It hurt loads if it got banged & blowing your nose is a bit awkward I took it out about 8 years ago, but you can still see where I had it. newcountrygirl
There is no-one more afraid of needles etc than me. I had my nose done about 5 years ago. The girl who was doing it said "Would you like a tissue as most people say it makes their eyes water" I can honestly say i didn't feel a thing and have never had a moments trouble with it even when i've had a nasty cold. The only thing i would say is that once you have it done you need to keep a stud or ring in it because the outside heals faster than the inside and if you dont keep something in it you will find it hard to get it back in. Good luck
Cinnamon
If I do get it done (am now debating if it will make me look a bit Mutton),I will have to get it pierced with a retainer,as my daughter did,as work doesn't allow any facial piercings. One girl at work has it done & had it pieced with a silver ball, and she has to cover it with a bit of sticking plaster each shift My daughters retainer is really small & almost invisible. Will carry on debating. For the time being I have bought some fake nose piercing gems from eBay which just stick on,so I can see what it will look like & I can decide whether I am too old for such frivolity
Egluntyne
I've always wondered about the nose - blowing aspects of this type of piercing.
Charlottechicken
I'd heard that it was one of the riskier areas to pierce, due to the nose filtering lots more germs than other piercing sites. Maybe that's just an urban myth What do the retainers look like??
Looney
I had mine pierced years ago and it didn't hurt at all. The stupid woman that did it made me jump and I ended up with a bleeding nose where the point on the stem of the earring stuck in the middle of my nose. She looked like she was going to pass out but I was fine! She later got closed down cos it turned out she didn't have a licence to do piercings... Anyway, I digress, I no longer wear a stud and haven't for ages as I got fed up of taking it out for work. Blowing my nose was never a problem although occasionally the stud did get caught up in the tissue....
Alis girls
I wouldnt myself being a wuss - I think the studs look nice but I hate seeing the butterfly inside the nostril - looks like a bogey
Blackrocksrock
Ladies - I cannot think why anyone would want to do this - it looks gross and obviously is gross if it gets caught in tissue and to inflict pain there brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it - as to tongue piercings - people must be mad = it looks dreadful. Each to their own I suppose.
Paola
I have mine pierced and have only ever worn a tiny silver stud in it Rings are just not my thing I had it pierced many years ago by a friend of a friend who had a gun on the steps of The Brixton Academy I am still trying to pluck up the courage to have my tragus pierced
Olly
I had my tragus done in Feb - following Cinnamon's lead - it hurt more than I expected but it healed up no problem. Bit fiddly to change, I've still got the gold stud I had it done with as I haven't managed to buy another one yet.
Cinnamon
Have a look here Olly BODY JEWELLERY You can search for jewellery as to where on the body you a pierced - they have some super little bits & delivery is very fast. I wear their little silver star or THIS ONE which is tiny & very sparkly, all the time.
missuscluck
I have always fancied having it done but I think I have left it too late now Im 40. I too have got a bit more wussy in my old age. Good luck whatever you decide.

Chickvic
My sister has had her nose pierced for about 24 years, she's 40 this year and has had hoops and studs. The one time she tried to shock our mum, she had a hoop in and chained it to her ear! Looked great but this was very unusual that long ago! The Dogmother
Nothing against it on other people but never seen the point of it myself (if you'll pardon the pun) I'm not all all squeamish, just don't 'get' it.

Thanks for the link Sarah, I've just ordered 3 different earrings to go in my piercing at the top of my ear, just found out it's either a helix or a pinna piercing. I usually just wear a purple hoop in it, but they had lots of cool looking things, and of course I had to spend over £10 to get the free postage Just hope they all fit ok now
craftyhunnypie
Got mine done. Had it since was 17. I love it. I also had a Hindu wedding & one of the Hindu women sign of marraige is a pierced nose. I would have had it done anyway!!! Emma.x
Olly
Thought I'd posted on here, but it seems to have been one of those mysterious vanishing posts - thanks for the link, Cinnamon, I've been wondering where to buy from. The labret that my tragus was pierced with feels too big now and if I fiddle with it, it stands out from my ear, but I'm guessing they pierce it with a larger one to allow for swelling, and that I could buy a slightly shorter one now it's all healed. Hmm, what to choose ..!
sage
Olly How long ago did it take for your tragus to heal? I got mine done at the weekend and I have the same problem you are having with the length of the bar. Sage
Cinnamon
Mine took a few months. They do put a longer length bar in to start,to deal with swelling and also so you can wiggle it back and forth to get it clean where the piercing is. Mine reverted back to feeling very tender a couple of times, and I caught it on something once too. Don't even think about changing it for a good few months. I think I had an 8 in,but I now wear a 7 labret, which has a flat back . They are a devil to change though, especially as mine us tiny and screws into the body of the labret.....its really fiddly and I always worry I am going to stop it down my ear hole
CatsCube
Just a word of advice for getting it done, don't get it done anywhere that says they will do it with a gun, go to a professional tattoo/piercing studio who will pierce it with a body piercing needle and proper body jewellery. Guns are horrible horrible machines that can do terrible damage and cause scaring, they give them to shop assistants in places like Claires Accessories who have no training and they are essentially ramming a blunt stud into you, particularly with noses they often get stuck halfway and can cause keloid scaring due to the tissue trauma, don't even get me started on what they can do to cartilidge areas like upper ears! Cinnamon
Don't worry,my local place is excellent and never uses guns, even for lobe Piercings.
