I went to collect what will be my new flock of girls today. As all plans go I didn't come back with all that I had ordered due to some miscommunication between sites but here goes. Some of the girls were from the last hatch of last year and have been kept with cockerels so have some feather damage but that'll soon grow back, so let me introduce you to (names yet to be decided):

Splash Orpington

Speckled Sussex

Dark Brahma

Cuckoo Maran

Barnevelder

Cream Legbar

At the back Croad Langshan

 

All are very pretty girlies and the Speckled Sussex has laid me an egg already

No she's definitely a hen. She was penned with another 2 hens and a cockerel so the difference was very obvious. I guess you're referring to her huge bonnet of a comb and the huge tail feathers. She's laid this afternoon so definitely a lady.

She is lovely and has laid me a lovely dark brown egg in the nesting box today. Clever girl!

I love my Barnevelder bantam but she only lays golden brown eggs, not dark ones.

they're near Bridgenorth Shropshire but well worth the journey. They also have a fantastic array of Pekins and he builds really nice wooden houses. If you know what you want he'll even drive part way to meet you.
