majuka
When I have given my girls slices of melon on the rind, they have eaten the flesh but not the rind. Sorry to hear about Polo
WitchHazel
sorry to hear about Polo. My girls eat melon, but not the rind. They will, however, clear every last bit of melon from the rind.
squiffs
sorry to hear about Polo. My girls eat melon, but not the rind. They will, however, clear every last bit of melon from the rind. Ditto this, they love it, I give it to them on a hot day and they lap it up, I eat most of the melon and when I'm done the bits left on the rind go to the girls! Then I collect the dried out/pecked to smithereens rinds and put them in the compost
clucker1
Thank you everyone, didn't want them choking on it. Off to give the girls their melon treat, it is so hot here in sunny Surrey @29 degrees. Thank you for your lovely comments about Polo, she was such a very sweet bunny. xxx
majuka
Not sure if it is just my girls, but once a slice of melon got turned over they seemed to struggle to get it back up. I used to stake mine in place with garden cane to make it easier for them.
Henergy
MIne love melon slices too - i just cut a wedge leaving seeds in etc & they strip it bare off the skin.
auntielizzie
In this hot weather, a nice ice cold slice of melon including seeds is perfect for the girls. I usually snap it in half and they both run off with their half. Hadn't thought about putting it on a holder/stick - that's a good idea, as where they run around with their pieces they do get it a bit mucky. They don't eat the rind/skin. LolaLayla
My neighbour throws their melon skins over the wall so that I can give them to the girls who clean every last bit of melon off them
