Recommended Posts

Well, we're all set to head down to sunny Devon to pick up our 6 new rescue girls. :D Very excited, and also ridiculously nervous.

Camera at the ready. Stand by for piccies when we return, should be back for around 7.00 pm all being well.

We're getting excited here too as we are getting our 4 rescued hens on Tuesday - in fact Hubby is out in the pouring rain now building their run! Looking forward to seeing the photos of yours Annie, and hearing all about them!

Well, allow us to introduce to you:

DSC00052.jpg

Jane, Lizzie, Lydia, Mary, Kitty and Mrs Bennet. (except one is out of camera shot)

Haven't quite worked out who is who yet, as have literally just got them home and bunged them into the Cube.

Saw Buffie and Mikey briefly at the rescue, but she was up to her armpits...

Oh, and they are well featherered because the farmer had enforced a moult on the poor things a while ago in order for them to lay bigger eggs.:evil:

More pictures and update tomorrow. :D

Oh Annie im so pleased for you and Jonnie! 8)

The chooks look a little surprised at their posh new apartment but im sure they will get use to it in no time. A true rags to riches tale! :D

You will get to recognise each one really soon, along with their own unique personality too 8)

Well done Annie, you will love your rescue babies! :D

About the forced moult: When faced with a flock of spent hens, the farmer can induce production again by way of a forced moult--accomplished with starvation and water deprivation for periods of up to two weeks.

It also makes laying birds produce bigger eggs.:evil::evil:
