Ygerna
Or know it well? I am looking to go with a girlfriend for a weekend break. We don't want to take a car, so need a nice hotel close to the night life. TIA
beach chick
cant recommend a hotel per se - but round Grafton Street is really nice (posh and expensive tho). we stayed somewhere near the main post office in a business hotel - these are often good for weekend rates. the Guinness brewery is a good trip; otherwise just walking round Dublin is wonderful! have a great time. pips_pekins
Hi. We've stayed at the Trinity Capital Hotel and would definitely stay there again. I find that usually the reviews on tripadvisor are fairly reliable. You could also try expedia as they have reviews and ratings. Dublin is a great choice for a city break. Have fun! Olly
Too long since I went, to remember where we stayed, but just wanted to say it is a wonderful place for a city break, you'll have a great time.
Guest
If you are looking for nightlife and want to be in the middle of it - look for a place in Temple BAr! But it will be noisy until the early hours of the morning! If you are on a budget - the hostels there are good and very clean. What to do! Guinness is good - a pint in the Skybar being a highlght! City Hall, Dublin Castle, or a ride on the Viking Bus! but on my recommendation if you go to one place - go to Kilmainham Gaol!!!
MummyHen
We have stayed at the Westin - which right by TCD and opposite Temple bar - its an old bank that has been converted; very nice wonderfully comfortable beds; downside is that its not a cheap stay but for proximity to Temple bar its a good option Westbury - off Grafton Street right in the middle of shopping, near St Stephens Green a short walk to Temple bar; again not cheap Both have good restaurants - but there loads of places to eat out Places to visit; as mentioned before - Guinness experience, Kilmainham Gaol; Dublin castle; Trinity College; whiskey distillery just across the river - can't remember its name - oh just come to me Jameson’s Take one of the open top (depends on time of year you go) bus which allow you to jump on/off - is aways a good start - you see alot if time is short Trip advisor is always good place to start Enjoy

Blackrocksrock
Daughter lives just outside Dublin - you must go on the tourist hop on bus - it goes round the whole city and is great value - hop on and hop off.
sage
We stayed in the Royal Dublin Hotel. It was fine nothing too special but easy waliking to all the places you would need to see. Sage
Valkyrie
It's been a long time since I went with my friend. I loved it there - didn't seem like a city at all to me. I can't remember what hotel we stayed in but it was along the river and opposite the uni I think.
