I've Got Small Feet

Recommended Posts

I went to Clarks yesterday and had my feet measured for a pair of new shoes. The last time I had this done was when I was a child and mum took me there for school shoes .

All my adult life I have been wearing shoes in a size 6 or 6 1/2. Imagine my shock when I was measured and told I needed a 4 1\2 EE width  I asked to be measured again and then the manager also measured them. I have wide feet and buying shoes from high street shops and clothes depts in supermarkets I needed the extra length to give room to my wide feet.

After paying for the shoes I put my trainers in my shopping bag and put on the new shoes just like I did when I got new school shoes as a child  They are so comfy.

When I got home I tried on my other shoes and decided that they had to go. I don't have a lot of footwear as I have always found that most shoes I buy are not quite right

So now I own one pair of properly fitting shoes size 4 1/2, one pair of wellies size 6, one pair of slippers size 6, a pair of walking shoes size 6 (fit well :? ) and a pair of walking boots size 6 (fit well :? ) Lastly my steel toed capped work boots size 7

I feel the need to go shoe shopping :D

I know the size of my feet as I have had them measured - length wise they are a 2 1/2 !! But I always need to buy 4s or sometimes 5s to get the width. It does mean I get cheap childrens Crocs though 8) Oh and i managed to get some nice childrens hiking boots in Decathlon for £8.99. I got 2 pairs

I generally have size 8 feet, sometimes a 9 depending on the manufacturer. My main problem is I have very long toes and normally where the width of a shoe is not actually the widest part of my foot-it's my toes still!

I definitely think I have abnormally large feet compared to my height, as I'm 5' 7" or thereabouts, apparently it's a family trait on my Mum's side though. She has size 6 and a half feet and is 5'3", she used to be more of a size 5, but that was before she had four kids!

I'm 5' 7" and in my new small shoes it looks as though my feet aren't long enough to keep me upright. My Mum who is the same height as me takes a size 9 and always buys her shoes from Clarks.

I have been browsing on the Clarks website and have seen 2 pairs of shoes, a pair of boots and a pair of trainers I would like, OH is getting very worried. My local shop only had a small selection of wide shoes on display and most were a bit granny looking.

I am a size 4 and also had my feet emasured in Clarks recently when buying my DS some school shoes. I have quite broad feet around the toes but narrow further back and a very high instep. I have been suffering with plantar facsitis (sp) for a couple of years so needed really well fitting trainers. I bought a pait and my right foot is more comfortable than it has been for years. I have now developed a very sore left big toe joint though

My DS has to have his feet properly fitted for shoes because he has very wide feet, he wears a 7 1/2 but measures as a 6.

Order them all online and have them delivered to your local store  I did that (6 pairs  ) but was very restrained and only bought 1 pair (OK, the ONLY pair that fitted properly  ). The staff didn't mind at all and just put the other 5 pairs on the shelf :)

I wear a 7, but have ridiculously slender ankles which mean a lot of shoes slip off at the back if I get them to fit the width of my feet at the front. I also have long monkey toes. Ick.

My brother is a size 14 shoe. My dad had to buy him 8 pairs of shoes before they moved out to Singapore, as there was no way they'd be able to easily get hold of shoes that big over there.

Mine are the other extreme - very narrow a 6.5 AA. Not as bad as my mum and sisters 7AAA!! Internet shopping only for me! The trouble is that as there is not much demand the shoes cost a fortune - I would love to have 'standar feet'. I spend most of my time at home in a battered pair of crocs, walking shoes or wellies all with very thick socks :)

I have exactly the same problem my work boots are a wide 4 OK if wearing socks but are too big length wise. I really struggle to get nice girly shoes.I have talipes on both feet so they are a bit odd. So for my 50th birthday I got a pair hand made ones to fit me properly. cost a bloomin fortune but really worth every penny, my feet are a very wide 2 1/2
