UKMARCH
Today in the strong winds my neighbours plastic greenhouse come flying up and over the fence and landed where the hens were free ranging. Now poor Pam is limping and isn't taking any weight on one foot, I can only think she may have pulled a muscle or strained something trying to get out of the way. I have put her in the run to stop her trying to walk on it and will keep an eye on her and hope it will improve with rest otherwise we'll be off to the vets! majuka
Is there any possibility that Pam was actually hit by it?

UKMARCH
She is still not wanting to put any weight on in but is still eating and behaving normally, she is most cross at being restricted! I'm not sure if it hit her or not I saw it coming out of the corner of my eye but couldn't get to it before it came down. It was quite heavy as it was the metal frame too and it was a 6'x4' size! I'm hoping she comes out tomorrow limping less after a night's rest.
dancing cloud
Poor Pam! I'm not surprised she's cross - out and about, minding your own business doing hennie things, and buildings drop out of the sky (and you then get imprisoned )! When my Little Chicken developed a limp (never knew why) the vet prescribed metacam as a painkiller and she was fit as a flea in about three days. May be worth getting Pam checked over, just to make sure she wasn't actually hit by the thing and that the limp is nothing to worry about. Could be a whole new forum advice thread - how to protect your girls from lice, mites, low-flying buildings ...

UKMARCH
Hi, thanks for asking, I have had problems getting online amazing how you miss it when its not working. Pam seems much better she has been restricted still so she's having to rest it and I've been using arnica and although she holds her foot up a bit when standing she is walking much better and is taking the weight on it when walking. Hopefully with some more rest she will be good as new and racing around the garden as usual. We are thinking of increasing the run very soon probably a good idea as you don't really account for flying objects and there are two young football mad boys next door so we often have balls coming over too! majuka
That's good to hear Pam is a bit better today. Arnica seems to do wonders for simple bruising and strains. We've used it a few time on newly released ex batts and it seems to do the trick. Poor Pam, minding her own business and then a greenhouse comes flying towards her I guess it could have been a lot worse.
UKMARCH
Hi, that's true it was very heavy with the metal frame and I had a job to hold it down to stop it blowing up again so I had to take it apart! Now I'm worrying about flying footballs but I think their enjoyment of being out outweighs the chances of another flying object, hopefully!
