We had some fog earlier this week, so did Phil and he took this photo along the valley from his folks' house the other morning... simply breathtaking.

They are on a ridge, so can see down the valley to both sides. The only drawback is that the weather tends to be a bit extreme up there - Phil was snowed out for a week last winter when he was up here staying with me.

Ok, the clue is 'Buckinghamshire', that ought to give it away.

If your crop the pic down to just the top half where the dark and light join so you only have the pale blue, the landmark bit and the sky it would look like a fairy tale picture

It is a beautiful image, dreamlike. But casting a photographer's eye over it, it IS out of focus - the focus is on the grass in the foreground. Most judges would notice that straight away. Images for competitions have to be both beautiful AND technically well executed. It is also very grainy/noisy (due to the camera selecting a high ISO setting). It would not enlarge well for a calendar because of these things.

 

BUT I would still put it in for a competition, and hope the judges don't notice, because it is so dreamy and lovely

 

And I have never been to Buckinghamshire (only through) so have no idea what the landmark is!

The focus was P's beef about it - I had to nag him to send it to me; he was going to delete it.

 

He's no photographer,but does use his camera to gather reference for illustrations.

That is a beautiful picture, part of it's charm is that it is slightly out of focus, it adds to the mood

On the subject of photos...where is OSH?? we could always rely on her for a fabby photo, but she doesn't seem to have been on here much recently?...or have I just missed her??
