sparkysmum
Have heard Lots of references to the choir this week but have never heard them until today. If you haven't heard them either, you just have to Here they are http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0h39vBsiR68This is amazing, powerful singing from incredible women. Lets get behind them, support them and help make them Christmas No 1 As far as I know all proceeds or all profits are going to military charities. Goosey Lucy
I watched the three programmes about the choir, loved every minute and sobbed each time. What an achievement x

Goosey Lucy
Also made all the more poignant by the fact it was written for them and by them; the composer (whose name escapes me but he was involved in Kate & William's wedding) used their letters to their husbands as a basis for the lyrics. The title comes from a bracelet one of the ladies was given by her husband, inscribed with the words 'Wherever you are...' Ok, I'm off for another blub. chelsea
Loved the programme too. I find Gareth (I think he's called that) strangely attractive (he's sooo not my type!!) Great achievement.
redhotchick
I believe the single is being released on 19th December. It was originally going to be earlier, but the response has been such that the record company (Decca?) have timed it to give it a chance of being Christmas number

Space Chick
I believe in the cause... Think the lyrics are beautiful...and it is fantastic to see real people being so passionate. That said... With my Simon Cowell hat on.... The singing is OK... There are a number of off key notes and they need work as artists. Having said that, I do think it would be a triumphant christmas number one

Chickendoodle
Having watched the series I don't find the slightly off key notes a problem (I would usually be wincing) as the recording is for sentiment, not musical ability. These are ordinary women, given a voice by the lovely Gareth Malone and I listen to it like I listened to my children when they were in the school choir, knowing that not all of them could sing but they were putting their hearts and souls into it. A professional choir could record the piece probably much better musically but it would not have the same depth of feeling. Also the youtube clip is the live event in the Albert Hall - the single is a studio recording and is therefore much cleaner The composer is Paul Mealor. sparkysmum
KK, I really cannot begin to imagine how it must feel to be a military Mum or wife/girlfriend. My thinking is somewhere inbetween these two quotes as a prospective military mum ( my ES has applied to Sandhurst). I have found myself thinking so much more about this as it seems to have an even greater reality now that 'Wherever you are' means no longer just a different city but a prospective wartorn land. I wish them success it is definitely a worthy cause.

kazmac
I just caught up with episodes 2 and 3 yesterday and I too have cried at all 3 episodes. It was lovely to see such camaraderie between these women and such real emotion when they were singing. That's what it's all about rather than musical ability, per se. I will definitely be buying a copy to support them.
