Mrs Frugal
The absolutely worst film I have ever seen was 'Videodrome' with Debbie Harry. (Early 1980s) Don't say that Ginette - you'll start Dan off !
Crooked Chicken
Ok, I know no one's going to agree with me on this one (it won Oscars and everything), but Fargo. I HATED IT. Saw it in London and people actually walked out of that one. Love Top Gun, Billy Elliot, Titanic and lots of others that people hate. Boy, that speaks volumes about me doesn't it. (Love anything that makes me cry, and Tom C can do no wrong in my eyes. I'd watch him open an envelope )
The Dogmother
It has to be the new Wallace and Gromit film I had the misfortune of seeing yesterday. The film wasn't very long but seemed to go on forever and ever ( me trying to keep my eyes open in the cinema). Good job I had a family sized bag of Minstrels to pass the time. I'll have to introduce you to Phil, Ali; he's got a 'pash' at the moment for the big packets of Minstrels! I told him that he'd end up spotty!
ali-s
No Phil won't end up spotty. Don't you remember the advert -" Minstrels melt in your mouth not in your hands" So no spots of melted choccy anywhere

Sheilaz
Oh No,I really diliked Billy Elliott though. Was that disliked Billy Elliott? I loved it! All that '70's pop music, interesting plot with socio-historical backdrop, brilliant Julie Walters, great acting by "Billy" and all, great filming & good understated English film. Clever balance of humour & tears. Um, what didn't you like about it? Now I haven't thought of worst film yet, just had to leap to defence there! Guest
At the risk of upsetting more people, I found Billy Elliott quite boring, though it had good bits. I felt the story was predictable and we didn't see enough dancing, especially at the end, the climax of the film. Billy finally makes it as a dancer and we see him standing in the wings, he leaps onto the stage . . .and that's the end! I also stopped watching Shakespeare in Love, because that was awful too! The Magic Roundabout (last year) was so boring I slept through the entire film! (I'll take cover now!)
Sheilaz
........and we didn't see enough dancing, especially at the end, ....... Billy finally makes it as a dancer and we see him standing in the wings, he leaps onto the stage . . .and that's the end! quote]Yes, but that was so clever...it left me desperate to see him perform in Swan Lake...then I remembered it was just a film... Frustrating because you want more, but clever ending.

I thought it was just dull, predictable & silly. Also, I cannot bear julie Walters (except her role in the Harry Potter films, where she is superb) Each to their own, I guess
Popcorn
That's one of my Top 10 films!!! It is a triumph! Proper Romero zombies but done as a black Comedy. Man! I love that film. Have you ever seen Spaced with Simon Pegg - it's *so* funny and just like Shaun of the Dead. Brilliant on both counts. Humour is just fantastic As for Billy Elliot - (here's my tuppence worth) I don't think it's about seeing Swan Lake at the end or the dancing or quality of it, it was about the restraints that were put upon lower working class society at the time and what was considered 'normal'. I thought it was a fantastic film that covered a lot of social ground. I'm not so sure that it would have been a happy ending in 'real life' though at that time in a working class northern household. rachel19
I also hate all scary films - seriously what is the point of them? THe thing i hate most of all is the people who always say their favourite film is something really interlectual or has a really complicated title that makes you sound really intelligent when in actual fact the films are complete rubbish but they just want to sound clever (Sorry, slightly off topic )

red
... not saying that Dan loves the sound of his own voice but ..... don't worry - we love your really Dan - who else would have a shot of Ms Harry slouched in her bra at their fingertips!!!! red
Small achievable goals Dan - that's my advice (although it was several years ago that I last wrote a dissertation!) Aim for just 300 words tonight Dan and if you achive it easily you can always set yourself another goal of a further 200 and before you know it you've done 500 and should feel very pleased with yourself ... great in theory huh? Oh Dan! What a productive evening ! Never mind, you'll get that 100 done without us to put you off tomorrow !
seriously funky chicken
I hate all Jim Carey films too except The Truman Show (which is one of my favourite)
clarealan
Hi My first time in the Nesting Box. The overall worst film has to be 'Existenz' (sci-fi/fantasy) - absolutely pants!
Cate in NZ
Maybe a year ago, or perhaps a bit more I took my 2 children and 2 friends to see a film called "Camp". It was a 12A cert and advertised as a film about teenagers "finding themselves" at an American performing arts summer camp. I guess I should have got it from the title, but I cringed as I sat with 2 12 yr old boys & 2 11 yr old girls through this abysmal film about gay American teenagers realising that they were gay Horrendous- I cringed throughout, and I'm not homophobic, I have some people who are very precious to me who are gay whom I adore, but this was truly dreadful, and that is putting it politely. Guest
Dan, This might make me quite old, but I saw Videodrome in the early 80s in a cinema. Was this the uncut version? It certainly had the cigarette and the stomach/gun bit in it. I didn't find it horrifying, just unbelievably stupid and senseless. Obviously that cult wasn't for me! And my favourite film of all time is The Sound of Music, so that probably isn't surprising

I think thats why I liked Moulin Rouge so much. It seemed like a modern take on these oldies to me.
