Omleteers Fit for 2012

Recommended Posts

I've eaten a shedload of food today, snack a jacks (3 bags  ), 4 plums, 4 clementines, an apple, a bowl of cereal, 2 cups of tea, halfway through my chicken and chilli noodle salad for lunch... - but I've still got 18 points left for dinner, which I will struggle to eat... 18 points is a LOT I could fit in an asda stack of profiteroles and then have 8 points leftover  but, I have to eat all my points, and the fruit was 0 points, so I should probably stop eating that or else I'll be eating for England. That'll be good to fall back on when my point allowance gets reduced once I've lost a bit of weight...

I'm getting my Invisalign braces today!! I've heard that a lot of people lose weight while doing those because you can't eat with them in. It's a pain to take them out and then you have to brush before putting them back in. It's such a bother that it tends to cut down on between meal snacking!

My cardio is rather weak so i'm going to try and improve that,

Years of rugby and boxing seemed to have given me solid legs and arms and no matter what i do they

just go more muscular, But i would love lady like legs and no Incredible Hulk arms.

Will I be seeing you at circuits then Karen? :D

I really need to get back into keeping fit; apart from dog walks I have been a terrible slob this Christmas, so back to circuits on Mondays and gym on Wednesdays I think, plus cutting out most carbs and eating more raw. I have more wood to chop and the garden to re-model so that will help.

Lewis - cutting back on carbs, fizzzy drinks and processed food will really help.

Is the Dance thing for the Wii easier than the Zumba? I don't mind looking silly dancing about but the Zumba was quite hard on my knee. I have the sports active but do find it gets a bit boring.

I walked to the park this morning instead of driving (I've been getting really lazy), it's 1.5 miles to get there. It was do nasty I just walked through and came back. I need to get rid of the Christmas treats that are in the house as they are so tempting. Weighed myself this morning so hopefully by next Tuesday I would have lost something!

I have Clearstep braces - very similar!

In theory you could lose weight - but I think that you will need a good dollop of will power too!

Good lucj though - you'll soon notice some changes!

I think you have to burn 3500 cals a week to lose 1lb of weight ( i think that's right).

So you need to reduce or burn 500 a day.

I do a 4 mile walk most days which at a pace that makes me slightly out of breath but can still talk will burn 400cals.

So i only need to do the ironing and i've done my 500.

Light housework/cleaning - 240 kcals/hour

Ironing - 171 kcals/hour

Washing up - 171 kcals/hour

Mowing the lawn - 333 kcals/hour

Washing the car - 343 kcals/hour

Mopping the floor - 238 kcals/hour

I've got so many exercise games for wii, I got a variety because I wanted to be able to switch them out to keep the sessions interesting. I have... my fitness coach cardio workout/dance workout/ club (with a webcam), I also have wii fit and wii fit plus, and I've ordered Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2010 along with her 30 day shred dvd... I wouldn't recommend cardio workout for someone with leg problems, as mine are absolutely fine and my knees and calves burn and ache like anything after half an hour on that... Dance Workout is great, really gets the heart rate up, the wii fit games are also pretty gentle on body parts you might not want to strain. I'll report back on what Jillian does to me. The above are all available for around £10 on amazon, so hard not to justify giving them a go in my mind!

We'll see about the weight loss. I do have a snacking problem! I bought a jar of nuts last week and on Sunday I noticed that I'd already eaten over half of them! :anxious:

I'm mostly doing it so that I will be less reluctant to smile because of my crooked front teeth! I tend to do a closed-mouth smirk instead which isn't attractive and I'm getting to the age where it is causing wrinkles!

Glad to hear you are seeing results!

I've just ordered Just Dance 2 for the Wii. The reviews are good, it sounds like it'll be fun for parties too. Lots of people use it for a fun workout so we'll see what happens. I think with my usual 5-6 mile walk in the morning, a shorter walk in the afternoon/evening it should start shifting some weight.

Portion control is my next issue to crack as I usually end up dishing myself up the same amount as the men in the house which is not right

Must be catching as YS has said that he wants to get fitter this year. He is fairly fit with all his kayaking, although this only seems to have an effect on your top half. He said he wants to improve his posture as well, he does slouch as he walks so I'm glad he's going to try and sort this out. :D

Not walked today, don't think I can face it in these gales. Will go twice tomorrow does that count.

The wii sounds good but I don't have a wii. Will dig out hte old exercise videos.

My OH bought me mine as a gift for £70 on ebay with a bunch of accessories and some pretty duff kids games that we're either going to flog or give to the charity shop!

I cycled 500km in 10 days over Christmas in a "fitter not fatter" Christmas cycling challenge.

Had my weekly Weight Watchers weigh-in today and was down 4lb  (13st 1lb). My WW goal is 13st 7lb. I've been at Gold membership since Oct 2010.

I weigh and record everything I eat and drink, everyday, and attend the weekly WW meeting.

If I don't go to the weekly meeting I don't seem to lose weight ??

Really interesting read of what people are up to. I swam a mile at the gym tonight, i thought i might have been doomed as i pulled my back in the changing room (i have 3 prolasped discs) but was ok once i got in the pool. I had a green salad and smoked makerel for tea.

Still need to eat the festive cheese though

Just need to cut out the rubbish and carbs and move around more.

This is what I'm going to do - it is hard with all the leftover treats from Christmas and New Years. Lots of people brought us boxes of chocolates on NYE  I can, once I put my mind to it, stop snacking but it is hard. I feel like I should just throw the rest of the sweets etc away.

OH has gone back on his lighterlife diet. He has absolutely no willpower which is such a shame because as soon as he goes back to normal eating, he overeats again. He gets very grumpy on this diet though so its hard on all of us. He has a sedentary job too, rides his motorbike to work and then sits at a desk. I've told him we'll go for a walk in the evening just to get him exercising (he's injured his back).

Eat less and move, it should be so simple.

Can I join this too, please? I don't need to lose a lot of weight, just the Christmas excess, but I do need to get fitter. I started off so well doing loads of walking when we first got Tango, but I'll admit I've turned into a completely lazy dog walker since I've discovered a fab dog walk nearby where everyone's dogs race around together and the owners potter along at a leisurely pace, nattering. Very sociable, but not great for fitness.

I am planning to take part in a 17 mile walk at Easter organised by our village church, we carry a cross round the 6 churches in our benefice on Good Friday, it's usually well attended by people and dogs alike. I usually join at the halfway point but this year I am determined to complete the whole walk. It's good to have a goal to aim for, but I really need to get focused and start doing some training or I won't achieve it, no excuses!

I must join you all, I turn 45 in April and middle age spread is starting to get me down. I am about 1.5 stone over where I feel comfortable, I have a small frame so I probably should be another stone or so lighter than that as well, but I know where I am happy. I love my food and wine, just want to be fitter and more active.

I will work on activity rather than serious food reduction, because realistically I know that will be easier for me. I don't eat too much rubbish as a rule although my OH does so it is always there in the house. We have rediculous amounts of chocolate in the house which will gradually get eaten and then it will be Easter, this is the problem with having teenagers, people seem to buy them enormous amounts of chocolate for Christmas.

I have put on weight since working in an office more regularly for the past 18 months or so, doing a reception job which involved very little moving around. I am doing less of that now and work in an old Regency building with lots of stairs so that should help.

I will try to persuade my OH and DS to get active with me because they are both tubby, YD is very unfit so we will get her onboard too, ED has lost quite a bit of weight walking half a mile each way a day to get to her bustop at school, so walking does help.

That's encouraging to know. Couple of walks for me today, the second one - I walked out to the car park this evening and then remembered I'd parked in town  cold wet head now but caught up with walks

Lavender 17 miles sounds a long walk, better get your dog in training too :D

Today I had brown toast for brekkie, tuna and rice for lunch and. Snacked on 1 apple, 2 apricots , 1 orange and a small handful of grapes. Tea was green veg soup and low fat pate on toast (need to use pate up)

Didn't go to the gym tonight, suffering a bit with my back so did some cleaning when I got home to burn some calories.

Cannot wait until the longer days start, would love to do a bit of week day walking but it's dark when I leave home and again when I return....
