Dropped my iphone down the loo - will it work again?

Recommended Posts

OH managed to drop his in lots of beer whilst helping out at the local pub :oops::P:wall: in spite of the rice treatment it never worked again - but it was MUCH happier than he was  ! Equally, I have managed to put two phones through the washing machine ( NEVER leave your phone in your jeans pocket!!) and those have both bitten the dust too!

Sadly, mobiles and water just don't seem to be compatible!!!!

If it makes you feel any better my husband stood on the kindle i gave him for christmas tonight and its a gonner. :( Hope it works for you, these things happen i guess!

Have you contacted Kindle Support? They are usually really good at changing them even if it was your own fault.

OP, good luck with the iphone

Oh not you too !!!!!

I did the same and unfortunately it died, did everything i could think of to revive it but no luck .

I had to take it in and get it looked at...not even worth repairing had to have a new one. Needless to say , phones no longer live in my jeans pockets but in my bag.

We have all managed to kill phones with liquid.

OH dropped his in the canal - 2 different ones! (he does work on boats)

Mine vibrated off the kitchen window ledge (best place in the house for a signal) and landed in the washing up bowl

ES left his in his jeans and it was wonderfully clean after a 40 degree cycle

YS dropped his in a glass of squash (don't ask!)

They've all been treated to the immediate stripping down, drying out etc - using proper de-humidifying dessicant and not just rice but none of them have survived :( it's just the sad truth that electronics and water are not happy together.

Maybe you have iphone insurance???

As a consequence, I now have a Motorola Defy (smartphone), which is shock & dust proof, has "gorilla glass" (think that means it's tough) and it guaranteed waterproof to 1m.

Good luck with sorting it out.

I dropped my work phone down the loo the other month...

It didn't survive, and just said to work for some weird reason my phone stopped working... I didn't think they needed to learn why! Within a day they had replaced it unfortunately...

Phones, toilets and back jean pockets do not mix!!

Thanks for all your replies :) I don't think it will survive - it won't restore :( Insurance is invalid is you drop it in water (they have a sensor inside which call tell!) surprise surprise :x I'm on a contract so will have to buy a new one :?

Sorry about your kindle  I got one for Christmas from the bloke and absolutely love it !

Only just seen this. I dropped my iphone down the loo a few months back. I didn't think it would work again, tried drying it in bag of rice etc. Whatever you do, do not turn it on as this will only frazzle it. My OH took it in to a place in London and they repaired it, cost virtually nothing. The screen took a little while to dry out completely but it works perfectly now. I'll try to remember where he took it. They have places all over the country.

OH has dropped his iphone down the pan too and it worked straight away for him.

I hope you manage to get yours working.

Edited to add: I have washed YS's iphone before and believe me there was no going back for that phone. I sent that one off to one of these repair places on the internet but they said the 'motherboard' was frazzled. :?
