heth1986
Mary has spent the last 2 days pining for Wendy who fell ill and sadly passed away on Sunday so today I had a little trip over to Little Morton Farm I came home with 2 new friends for her, 2 more black star hybrids (yet to be named). I decided I was going to go for the 'pop them all in together and cross your fingers' method and it could not have gone any beter! I sectioned of my shed and a patch of 'nothing' land next to it that I've yet to find a use for and put them all in there so that they were on 'mutual ground', Mary's never seen this bit before either so she was a bit baffled! I threw plenty of pellets and a few hand fulls of corn and meal worms around so's they couldn't bicker over food and that was pretty much them sorted! Mary stood tall and ruffled her feathers virtually straight away so I gave her a quick squirt before it went any further and that was the end of that. The 2 new girls are about 16 weeks old, so 8 weeks (ish) younger than Mary and you can definitely tell but I guess the fact that there's 2 of them makes up for it? They've now been scratching around together for the past hour, no more squabbles, no pecking, no shouting, no flapping... I honestly can't believe it, I was prepared for World War 3! So so so so so happy and RELIEVED!!! I wander what tomorrow will bring?!
Ain't Nobody Here
Lucky you, that sounds like it's worked perfectly . I'm sure you're right about the neutral area. That and Mary being on her own and not much older than the new girls has probably made all the difference .
