What's been your best piece of Omleteer advice?

Recommended Posts

Cleaning out my chickens yesterday in the sun I got to thinking about all the advice I've had from wonderful Omleteers on matters from chickens to ducks to vacuum cleaners and alarm clocks. Three pieces of advice have been just the bees knees for me

1. to use Aubiose - thank you, thank you omleteers

2. to get a child's paddling pool off of Argos for my ducks

3. to try out a Lumi alarm clock

Anyone else got any special bits of advice you've used?

Hearing about Garvo food which my lot do very well on.

Finding out about Marriages layers pellets with flubenvet incorporated in them.

I just love looking at everyone's pics too.

(Also I am very proud to have given some useful advice too, re the paddling pool!!) :D:D

Where to start!

Lumie alarm clock

Memory foam mattress topper

Woodburning stove

Napisan in the washing machine

hand-held steam cleaner

I probably wouldn't have any of these without the forum

... oh and then there's all the chicken advice as well!

Too much great advice to mention but ...

1. Don't panic when you think the worse is going to happen .

2. We have all done that /had that experience/felt an idiot for not realising

3. How to put on photos (love other peoples.)

4. Aubiose

5. Not to get more hens and take on more than I can handle ...I would love more and restrain myself only because of space . :(

Napisan in the washing machine!

Not to use liquids in my washing machine, its like a totally new machine and washing is so much cleaner now

I use Persil powder & liquid fabric conditioner....should I think of changing and why :?:

I can't use any bio stuff or aeriel as I react to it :vom:

Scubababe, the Napisan is to get white washing really white without using bleaching agents. Re the liquid wash - you'll have seen the recent thread about smelly washing machines, apparently using liquids and washing at low temperatures makes this more likely. If the liquids work for you then stick with them. I've got very sensitive skin and I use Waitrose own brand Sensitive Washing Powder.

Lots and lots of great advice over the years including general non-chicken (in no particular order)

lumie clock

egg recipes

diet for a severely diabetic cat

and chicken-related

how to deal with a prolapse

string bags tied to the run to keep treats off the floor

treats do's and don'ts

Not forgetting all the support and encouragement, and sharing of the tears and joys. Don't know what I did for advice before the Omlet forum !
