patsylabrador
I thought the postman was knocking but I got such a lovely surprise when I answered the door. A quite elderly man and his wife were on the doorstep. I didn't recognise them at first. When I joined the Met back in the seventies there was a very grumpy, scary officer who took pity on the scared new WPC and took me under his wing. He was a great old-school copper. He could deal with any situation calmly and expertly, he had very little interest in governors and their silly ways and policed how he felt was necessary. He was quite a bad influence too and led OH and me astray a few times at work and we all often got in trouble with the sergeants. It's over twenty years since I've seen them but he felt it was time to return a book OH had lent him. I feel a little sad that they look so old now, he's just off eighty, but he's still grumpy although not so scary. It was really exciting to see them. It was cosy to see them, I'm glad I was in- and that the house and garden are tidy today.
Alis girls
Thats lovely Patsy. On a facebook page I go on where I trained is a picture of an elderly nursing sister who put the fear of God into a 19 year old green country girl. She still looks menacing now. Memories eh? Lewis
Awwh, how lovely. We had an elderly teacher who really helped me when I was at Primary school and I often wonder how she's getting on - she only lives round the corner so I might drive past one day and see if shes in.
