jimnpaula
She only lasted 12 days out of her cage She was so thin and wouldn't eat or drink properly so I wonder if she was already ill when we got her. At least she felt the sun on her back, grass under her feet, had a name and was loved, even if it was only for a short time.
Sentiant
My condolences, its never nice to say goodbye to one of your ladies, but as you say you gave her a most egg-cellant retirement, she would of passed on in peace and comfort.
Purplemaniacs
Ah that is sad. At least she did get to have a short time out of the cage which is more than a lot of them have. It sounds like she was already poorly. She was lucky to have been loved for 12 days. How many did you give a new home to? Chrissie
Bramble
I'm sorry to hear about poor Tequila, but twelve days of summer outside will have been lovely for her and she got to know there was more to life than the inside of a cage. Sleep tight little Tequila x
jimnpaula
How many did you give a new home to? I took 5, the other 4 'cocktail' ladies are doing very well.
gavclojak
As per my text yesterday, I am so glad she had you for those 12 days. Night night tequila sleep tight Onward and upward Paula X
Bramble
I had a huge upset with one of my chucks yesterday (separate post, won't bore you with it here), but IF I can summon up the courage to have some more chucks (and there's no guarantee of that at the moment), I think I will go back to where I started and have some "rescue" hens cage/colony/barn, whatever. It's never easy to lose a chuck, but somehow it seemed slightly easier then knowing that they had had a nice retirement, however short. gavclojak
Totally 100% agree with you bramble! the very worst is if they die in transit.....from farm to rehoming centre...not happened on my watch thank goodness One poor girl was dead on arrival at a barn rehoming and I was so sad for her, if she could have hung on a few more hours but it wasn't to be....tequila was one of the lucky ones, however short lived that may be.
