soapdragon
Has anyone used this company before? We are thinking (or at least I am.....OH sensibly takes the path of least resistance!) of booking a W/E glamping for ES 10th and my 50th b'days for 19th to 21st Sept - space is limited! They have good reviews and there is one at Faringdon (about 40 mins from us) that looks good but, being tight (and having to replace the computer which has finally reached a stage of total non compliance...typing this from ES tiny, tiny laptop perched on the stairs so as to be cosied up to the box with flashing lights and plug etc) I just wondered if they were value for money...they do charge extra (£5 e) to make up the beds which I find a bit odd!? Thanks, wise ones!
Alis girls
Am i the only one who thought you meant you were going glamping with a duvet? Silly me - sounds fun - enjoy

Alis girls
Actually its so flipping chilly at night now you might need a duvet, although the ones I've seen had a wood burning stove in them - toasty.

soapdragon
That will teach me to prevaricate; called this morning to book (having been told on Friday that they had 3 tents left) only to find that these have now been booked Sooooooo disapointed as they don't have any more space until mid Oct which I think is pushing it a bit in terms of the weather. Have looked at a few other glamping sites within an hours drive but none suitable (small units) so back to the drawing board. I did enquire about narrow boats or similar for the weekend but have been quoted min of £675 for Friday pm to Sun pm so that's out from a budget point of view. Just wanted something 'different' and reasonably local to Oxford for the weekend.......I wonder how many sleeping bags we could fit in the back of a Passat estate So the moral of the story is.......if you want it, go for it!!! Blackrocksrock
My friend from the states and I went glamping in an armadillo down loch ness side - it was great fun and cosy enough - In a wet June last year - the showers inside this little wooden structure were tiny but adequate and it was quite an experience really. She will never forget her glamping!.
The Dogmother
Have you tried the yurts at Limes Farm in Farthinghoe... near me?
soapdragon
Thanks very much for this, DM. I have e mailed them to find out availability! I had looked at their site previously tho they don't have loos (some people are SO fussy ) as ES and I are often up once or twice a night! However, they do look lovely and so I will keep fingers crossed!
soapdragon
They e mailed me to say they had availability for the end of Sept but D cannot get time off that Friday but they have promised to keep us updated in case of cancellations for the two weekends that we can make so thanks again for the pointer! Still hoping for a cancellation at Featherdown

The Dogmother
Don't laugh, Debs made one for one of Redwing's BBQs. This reminds me of Lesley's Shewee thread many years back
Lavenders_Blue
I think they are a great idea. I could have done with one when I went rough camping last year!
The Dogmother
I usually use a bush, or dig a trench if I am out.
Lavenders_Blue
I am forever getting caught short on dog walks and have hidden behind many a hedge. However someone recently told me they got bitten on the bum by a tick whilst having an al fresco comfort break - it's rather put me off! (Sorry for derailing the thread)
soapdragon
Don't you just love a happy ending! Had a call this am from Featherdown in Holland to say that the booking for three tents from Monday had now decided to change to another location so they had availability after all for the weekend of our choice! Needless to say, I jumped at the chance! Won't tell the boys till we get there and they see the set up...can' wait to see their faces! The Dogmother
Wooo, that's wonderful news - it sounds lovely, and we expect a full de-brief when you're back. I'd love to go on one, but they don't allow dogs
bluekarin
Oh well done! I would love to hear all about your experience of their glamoing setup as I long to go to one of their farms. Have a fabulous time
soapdragon
They all have chickens and you can help yourself to eggs! Also you can hire a small coop and chicken to sit next to the tent so that the eggs are even closer! Not for us but am looking forward to making a pizza in the wood fired oven...whats the betting it pours Will report back and may even manage 'photos (if the IT dept AKA ES co operates!) soapdragon
Have just realised that they don't have cold champagne on tap However, will enjoy chicken cuddling again - went to see a friend with chooks last week and had forgotten how soft, snuggly and yummy smelling they are! (That's yummy smelling in a comforting sort of way not an eaty sort of thing.....doh ) I miss that bock-bock noise too!
