soapdragon
Having just posted I was re directed, via OMLET so it seems, to a survey site. It promised great prizes value up to £40.00 and, as it quoted OMLETUK, I clicked on yes. Turned out it was offering stuff which had postage costs up to 4.95 so something of a con!!!?? Is this legit or has the site been hijacked? Did not sign up for anything but am feeling conned! Also, as I type, a pop up for brand new iPhone 5 has appeared at the top of the screen and is dancing around - what the doodah is going on? soapdragon
Have just clicked on another thread on The Nesting Box and got the pop up survey thing AGAIN..aghhhh
HarrisonFamily
Nothing strange happening here so far....but lets see once I post this...
HarrisonFamily
Sorry all good here - no adverts - no survey just omlet as normal....
Egluntyne
All normal here too. I would clear your cache.

Egluntyne
I've flagged the matter with Omlet.
patsylabrador
Would you tell me what a cache (on Omlet) is and how I clear it if that is something useful to do?
Lewis
Nothing wierd here wither. You should be able to clear your cache in your settings. In Chrome go to History (Crtl + H) and Clear browsing data... I'd also check your antivirus is up to date
soapdragon
Anti virus is up to date and we are still getting pop up surveys on each site we visit - Gumtree, E Bay, Omlet so far with other ads popping up at the top of the screen on everything. Just can't work out why this has suddenly happened or how to 'turn it off' - its infuriating
The Dogmother
You can usually disable pop-ups in your browser options, but I'd be tempted to download Lavasoft's Adaware and run it.
kissinuk
Sounds like malware to me, if you google it you will find lots of other similar cases. Search for AdwCleaner, this is a free tool to remove 'Adware' like this, bleepingcomputer.com has more info.
soapdragon
Thanks, will get the IT dept onto it when he returns from 'up North' at the weekend!! Have just tried to log on to the Nesting Box only to get Talktalk's pop up telling me my settings won't allow this as it has links to gambling what is going on? Can someone deal me in, please (Clicked on close tab and made it the second time!)
Valkyrie
I use Hitman Pro - I think there's a free trial period. If you like then there's an option for a year or 3 years cover. I found it brilliant and was recommended to me by a Dutch computer whizz girl! I've not had any trouble since - quite shocking when it found malware and remnants of on the computer. It runs alongside my anti-virus thingy (I'm no techno genius - as if you couldn't guess) which is a free Microsoft one, but also highly recommended. soapdragon
Have just had three pop ups on E bay page within 5 mins - can't stand this........
Geoid
Can you post up a screenshot of what is popping up? Press the PrntScrn button on your keyboard, then paste it into paint or similar.
soapdragon
OH has installed Googlechrome (or at least done something with it) so that we are now using that rather than internet explorer.......so far so good!
The Dogmother
I always use it - faster and more secure.
soapdragon
Didn't work Omlet now seems OK but trying to use E bay is a total pain with pop ups popping up as soon as I have closed the previous one. Wits end
The Dogmother
Did you install and run AdAware?
soapdragon
Yes, DM, we did and sadly it didn't cure the prob!
Cat tails
Your computer might be infected with mallware. Little files certain website plant on your computer and keep track of your movements on the internet. If you do a bit of googling, you'll find some sites helping you uninstall those things. kissinuk
Did you try the site I suggested? Worth a go if not, I've used it in the past to remove some advert malware,
soapdragon
Thanks for all help with the suggested sites; OH has tried each but we are still getting pop ups but not on Omlet. E bay is worst tho Gumtree throws them at us from time to time. I wonder if its anything to do with updates; every so often we get the screen message 'Updating 1 of...however many, do not turn of your computer'. This always seems to result in a glitch of some kind and often the comp fails to update....as I shut down last night got the update message 1 of 31 so left it on. At 7.00am it was still showing same message and still on update 1 of 31. Bloomin' technology !
