Off out to buy a big big bottle of white vinegar this weekend - washing came up lovely and no pong from the machine.

Whats a good price for a big bottle of white vinegar? I have never bought it before.

I've just read the whole of this thread with interest! Our machine has a pong just recently, and the only thing I've tried is soda crystals on a 90 degree wash. It worked for a while, but pong is back.

 

I must admit, when I was washing Stefan's nappies in the early days, I used Nappisan in every wash, and in my own whites, and I loved the results. I stopped buying it and haven't used it since? the machine was never smelly either.

 

I've got a dark towel wash on now, and I've put some white distilled vinegar in. See if the results are better. I must admit though, I don't mind a rough towel on my skin. Much prefer it to a really soft one that takes ages to get you dry.

 

I'm also going to go back to normal cycles. I've been using short 30's for a long time now.

I buy 5 litres of white vinegar at costco for about £3 and it lasts me ages

I've been trying to get rid of a bad smell for ages. The vinegar relly is working and it leaves towels really soft.

 

My Miele machine is fantastic I was advised about 4 yrs ago to get one by the washing machine repair man who came to patch my Zanussi up for the last of many times ( it was only 18mths old ) With 3 children I do a lot of washing and he said for an extra couple of hundred pounds investment I would get 15-20 yrs from a Miele as apposed to 3-5 from any other machine and so far so good.

 

The quality and reliability of my machine made the smell all the more annoying. The vinegar tip was great.
