I've been around chickens ever since I was really young, but until I got my own where I can watch the from the house, I never realised how cat like they are when it comes to sunshine. At this time of year there is only sun in tiny patches of the garden and that moves around all morning (none in the afternoon at the moment). The Pekins have spent all morning following the patch! It's on the Eglu at the moment and they're doing wings out sunbathing.

Actually there was some last Sunday and mine were enjoying it too.

My garden faces North/North West so not much sun for us either.

It's clear and sunny today (FINALLY!!!) and they are loving it! they've dug themselves in the only sandy patch that finally has some sun in the garden again. Three content purring chickens!

Lovely and sunny here too! OH let them out this morning and I have been busy so am about to clean them out and hope they are enjoying the lovely weather

Mine are doing exactly the same, following the patch of sun across the garden, they are sweet.

I have various logs and various large stones dotted about in the garden and my chickens just love to sit on the rocks when the sun is on them. They prefer the rocks to the logs. I wonder if the stones warm up better and keep their poor little tootsies warm

Our Pekins pile themselves at the back door where there's a bit of a sun trap in the corner ... lots of wing stretching, legs out to the side, climbing over each other for the best spot ... lovely to watch
