Leicester_H
Hi I need something to make the basis of a Christmas wreath - something like this http://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/natural-rattan-wreath-305cm/571262-1000 I'd buy one of these, except the postage is more than the item costs ! So, can I buy the rattan 'twigs' (not sure what to call them) and make my own ? Or, are there alternatives ? Any suggestions would be welcomed, thanks, H
Charlottechicken
Can you raid a local hedgerow for flexible twigs? Or do you have anything of the trailing kind, like honeysuckle, in the garden that you can use pieces of, tied with some raffia?
Valkyrie
Ivy is already green and if you can find longer lengths to twine that would be good - or the twiggy bits - plenty of old man's beard in the hedgerows - or clematis from the garden. Plum
Ask a florist for a wire ring base to wind your twigs round. They're cheap and they'll sell you wire as well to secure the twigs.
craftyhunnypie
A wire coat hanger works well if you can source one & do old lampshades. You just snip off the bits you don't want with some wire cutters. You can bulk buy wreath rings online ( famous auction site ) or from a florist. Willow twigs work well when bound with twine. Leicester_H
Thanks all. We got some Hazel cuttings from local environment centre (where OH goes walking). OH tried to make wreath but twigs were too inflexible. Will try something else soon. H
Cat tails
You can try soaking them in hot water to make em more flexible
