ali-s
Ok, spill......where is it and how much? Well its in Craigellachie (not pronounced how it is spelt ) and it has 3 bedrooms. 3rd bedroom very tiny but hey the property comes with several outbuildings/barns where Jack could sleep Pricewize, quite reasonable but will probably go for 30% more than the "offers over" guide You will have to check out the Moray Solicitors Property Centre site for the guide price Can't wait to show OH the pic when he comes home tonight I dreamt about living there last night
Sheilaz
I know you've been looking for a while & had disappointment so I do wish you well in either this or another one, Ali. Looks & sounds lovely. I love your 3 criteria. I have an Aga & grew up with one, so a Rayburn or Aga feels homely. I've always wanted a walk in larder, that would do it for me! Plus the land & outbuildings.... OH saw his ideal place. But, at £1.75m...perhaps we could afford the rodroom (yes, it had fishing ) but not the rest. OH would love countryside (but I'm torn, I've never moved more than 5 miles and can walk to town centre). Restricted too by E. having 7 years at school where she's just started & it's perfect for her, and dependent Mother who I just couldn't move. So Ali, I'll just daydream. But, hope you really do get a chance to go ahead if it's right. You're probably safe to post that, but if I found a smallholding down here I wouldn't post it on the forum! So
Cinnamon
Yes, good luck Ali It looks wonderful. We are on the lookout for something similar, but house prices are just so high down here that we are going to be hard pushed to find anything But,we have seen some fantastic places that we could afford in Cornwall Annoyingly we missed out on something perfect about a year ago, but I put it all down to fate. Maybe in a few years when the children have finished school,we can decamp to Cornwall.............
ali-s
The deciding factor will come down to the children and their education. The property is quite a hike from where we live now so Jack and Natalie would have to change schools. Jack is planning to join the Navy next year so will probably be living in Portsmouth or the middle of the Atlantic . So that leaves Natalie and she is a stubbon little so and so who still stamps her feet if we try to get her to do something she doesn't want to do I can just imagine her reaction I would have to give up work as the journey to and from the school every day would be too far and as I earn a pittance not financially viable I would also imagine that the route to work could become quite dangerous on a cold, dark, icy morning , and with 2.7 acres to play with I wouldn't have time to go to work But I really, really like this house If the house is meant for us we will get it, if not then there is another one out there waiting for us to find it. Cinnamon
The deciding factor will come down to the children and their education. That is our main problem/concern too Ali. My girls are in secondary school, & Devon is doing several GCSE's a year early this year, with the rest plus A levels next, then Cleo a year after that,so moving them from their excellant school where they are so happy is not an option. There is a house a little was away from us, but it will mean me driving them in & picking them up every day, twice a day when Devon has after school extra lessons, & then there is Sea cadets too The house is perfect - ripe for extending, 2.2 acres, a quiet country lane, & best of all no more mortgage if we went for it. Decisions, decisions
ali-s
Mortgage free sarah If I was you I would be very tempted With the money you will be saving on a mortgage I would send the girls to and from school in a taxi
Egluntyne
Looks fab Ali-s If the weather was too bad for the children to make the journey to school, the chances are it would be closed anyway. You could do up the outbuildings and do B&B. So much to consider, but the children will be up and gone before you know it. Go and visit.....then you will know if it is worth losing sleep over. Walk in larder, Rayburn and 2.7 acres. Sounds heavenly.
Jules.
Lovely house- it looks very similar to the one my FIL lives in in France, altough his is built on a hill & has 3 storeys. It's a bit far for the school run to France & back, though It only cost him £42000 3 years ago, but needed loads of work doing inside, it had no bathroom, & wiring everywhere, it was basically just a shell. It's coming along very nicely now (I've not been, but hubby has)
bronze
oooooh its lovely my house (I call it that its not) was taken off the estate agents site a while back but it fell through so is now back again. I even went as far as calling the agents even though I knew there was no hope in hell of convincing dh. I dreamt about it last night instead
Chicken Licken
I lit my rayburn last night (having marked a load of GCSE exams to save up the money to have it restored). My little house was toasty and warm and although it went out overnight it is still radiating heat now. No need for the central heating!! For me moving here was influenced byt eh Rayburn and allotment directly behind the garden that belongs to the house. I could never have kept chookie girls in my old house. Charlottechicken
Ooh Ali, the best of luck if you go for it It looks and sounds perfect! Like you say, if it is meant to be, then it will be.
feemcg
It really looks lovely and its a good price ali, although as you say it'll probably go for a good bit more with the offers over. Its just the kind of thing I'm hoping to move to next year. I want to have my house on the market for about Easter time and hopefully move in the summer. My eldest daughter will be finishing school then and hopefully going to uni and getting digs, and wee Anna will be going into Primary 5, so plenty time for her to settle in another school. The thing is my OH already has a lovely house 'in the country' with stunning views in a wee quiet village - but no land to keep my ever expanding chicken flock (plus the other things I have planned ). Neither of us has a mortgage so we're very lucky. This time next year I'll hopefully be sitting on my computer in my new farm house - or out feeding the sheep
theherd123
Oh Ali you have to go for it, you would be mad if you didnt! It look beautiful I always look in the property section on the paper - i have a few ideal houses ranging from 1.2 to 4.3 million!!
Cate in NZ
Oh, it looks fabulous Ali . Have you seen inside it yet? Good luck with it if you do decide to go for it, it looks a very serene, happy sort of a house, a great home I'd say We've recently put our house on the market, only a few days, but I hate it, every spare minute spent keeping the place spotless just in case anyone wants to just pop round and view it, and the strange people wandering around making comments about my lovely home, and wearing their clodhopper boots on my cream carpet. Oh the stress, and it's only the first few days, and I was out all day yesterday so hubby bore all the grief on Saturday. Oh, well, all towards a happy ending. I hope
Mrs Frugal
It's lovely Ali. Just the sort of place I dream about too. You've got the same sentiment as me too - if it's meant for you it won't go by you . Good luck!!
chelsea
beautiful house. Go for it and make your dream happen !! We are always looking at houses in scotland for sale (as we love it up there) HSPC is a good site for houses all over scotland. good luck
Richard
Looks great - all the best. Buying houses really is pants - the worst thing you have to do. And it's tougher in Scotland. I really hope it goes well for you
chickencam
We would love some land but we too are in the schools trap for another few years. Good luck!
Paola
Gorgeous house Ali, keeping everything crossed for you Make them take there shoes off Kate, I always do. We have taken ours back off the market because it is sooooo quite. I will be sticking it back on in the spring. Hope that you find a buyer
DizzyLizzie
We have been 'moving' since January and now it looks like we might actually make it to our 'dream house' . Three buyers, two surveys on houses by us, missing out on several des res's - I hope it's worth it (it is - the garden's 140ft long with fruit trees, school's 200 yards away next to the church, nice commuter village between 2 towns) but NEVER AGAIN!!!!
