About bloomin' time

Recommended Posts

We had some deliveries from Amazon, but they use a private courier. Yesterday when putting the bin bags out my mum found a huge amazon box, that had ripped and was soaking wet. When she brought it inside and opened it it had 2 DVD players in it. They hadn't put a note in the door or anything to say they had put it there. I suppose it is their loss.

You are lucky, Martin, to get post in the morning!

When they abolished the second delivery, I wasn't too upset, but I should have been. What it means for us is that we now only get a second delivery. Our post rarely comes before noon.

So every time there is something to sign for it's a six-mile cycle trip to the sorting office at crack of dawn.

There have been no deliveries whatsoever in Oxford for the past seven days.

We've had absolutely nothing either and never get a delivery before midday. They had said there wouldn't be deliveries until tomorrow, so you're lucky to get post first thing in the morning Martin, on many counts!

We've had deliveries every day of the strikes. All the stuff delivered has been bills  becuase all the major billing companies don't use Royal Mail - they use TNT or UKMail to post their letters, so as long as your postie is one of the ones still working, those letters will get through.

Post

We haven't had a thing for 7 days - and won't know until 1.30 whether we'll get any today  Doubtful because our postie will still be working to rule and when he runs out of time, he will finish. We're last house but two on the rural run - we'll be left off :(

We were only recieving post twice a wekk since the last lot of stikes and I was monitoring the siruation and have a complaints number - the latest strike has made a mockery of my monitoring :( I can't complain about non-delivery until after 1.30.

Our postie hasn't been yet (i'm off sick) but he often comes a little later than this. I hope he does come as I've left a pile of mail on the step for him and if he doesn't come I'll have to drive to a post box. One might not even fit in as its an ebay package so I'll have to drive to a post office!

He is wonderful though out postie, he signs for things for us and then tucks them out of the way. If a parcel isn't signed for he leaves it on the storm porch. Only someone walking down our driveway would see anything there and "Ooops, word censored!"ody even walks past our house let alone down our driveway! (The only thing that gets put through our door is the village newsletter - no free papers or anything!)

Same as our Postie Pengy! We rarely get post before 2pm, but if it needs signing for, he does it and leaves it in the shed.

(Mind you, i did threaten him when the new HP book came out and i wasn't back from hols til 11pm that night  'No more eggs, if that book isn't in the shed when i get back':wink:)

Well I've seen 2 postie's in my area today, but not mine. Mine has two rounds and I'm on the second.

I've just been to post an urgent letter and thought I would send it Special Delivery so that it gets there (hopefully) before the next strike. The PO couldn't guarantee delivery tomorrow but said the SD letters would have priority. It cost £4.30 :shock::shock: That's quite a hike from 32p isn't it? And 32p should get it there tomorrow anyway!

He's been and he brougt, a bill, a bank statement and last weeks TES (which I file still in its plastic wrapper and NEVER read)

And he picked up all the post we left on the step so I don't have to take it myself and can stay in my sickbed!
