red
Sounds like you're doing really well on the whole Thalia. I know that LL would not be the programme for me but having read your posts I can see why you feel it is the right programme for you and for what it's worth - if your GP thinks its okay - then it sounds like the right thing. It is very dificult to change your eating habits and although I cannot see myself going back to my old ways of eating I have been a little bit too generous with my treats of late but that is more due to the fact I have had a lot of social funtions than weakening to cravings for bad food - so on the whole I feel I'm doing alright. Stay positive Thalia - remember everyone here will support you and you can log on any time to unburden - I can't remember who started this thread now but it is here for just that purpose so don't feel bad about clogging up the thread with your progress - we're all very interested and want you to do well BTW congrats to hubby too - maybe we were a bit harsh on him but perhaps you need to remind him that he will need to go that extra mile to make things work for you too - once you're losing more weight too you'll both feel great and you'll all be winners
Chicken on a mission
Red I love the way you write, I admire the way you have stuck to your guns and I thank you for being so open minded
Ruth
I am really inspired by your blog, Thalia, and by your determination! Very best wishes with the Lighter Life programme, I do hope it works for you. I think it will, you've obviously looked into it carefully. Glad you've got the concert to look forward to! Hugs
Chicken on a mission
Cheers Ruth It's going well and only 97 days left to go. Poor old hubby will probably be in for more berating before the week is out. The concert is in October so with luck I'll be able to throw some of my big pants at him as I won't be needing them by then The first weigh in is on Wednesday. Lesley
I can't remember who started this thread now but it is here for just that purpose so don't feel bad about clogging up the thread with your progress - we're all very interested and want you to do well I started this thread and I'm quite happy for it to be used in any way which might be helping someone take control of their eating. I have found inspiration although I'm still not doing much myself - but I will Red and Thalia - you are both a great inspiration - keep it up

red
Here I am!! I have been a bit busy at work and have been spending my spare time trying to play the second hand piano we bought a fortnight ago. I've never played and already I've progressed to Abba's "The Winner Takes It All" - played badly and very slowly and repetitively on an out of tune piano - OH getting VERY fed up Pleased to see you're doing well Thalia. I have lost another 2 lb so only another 4lb to lose to reach a loss of 3 stone - so that's my next target. I'll still have a lot to lose after that but I like bite size goals
Chicken on a mission
Well done Red and keep going with the piano I did lessons for about a year when I was 13 but then gave it up and now I wish I hadn't I have my second LL meeting tomorrow morning and will update you on the progress then. I have been to the gym everyday this week just to help things along. I'll just stick to a weekly update on my progress for this thread and if anyone is interested they can read the detail in my blog which is updated on a daily basis although I will warn you that it is VERY detailed and no holds barred As for losing the other 4lb Red, that shouldn't take too many more weeks and it'll be party time on this thread from all your supporters when you get there

Boris70
well done !!! We've been eating healthily for about 6 months. I've lost 21lb and OH has lost 28lb (it definitely sounds more in lb than stones!). We've still got a way to go - but I was so chuffed, my BMI went down to 28 from 32, so I'm now just overweight - not obese. I've been starting to flag with the temptations, but reading your blog is going to keep me motivated to carry on. Well done again - I know how difficult it can be. Chicken on a mission
Vicki, Well done and keep going. You and Red are doing it the difficult way which I will discover in 5 or so months when I start on the management programme. I did find it difficult that most of my group lost more than me but then don't have as much to lose as they do plus I had done well in losing before I started on lighterlife. I'm glad that my blog is proving useful to some of you. Apart from being great therapy for me, that was my intention. KEEP GOING EVERYONE AND CHANGE THOSE LIFESTYLES TO MATCH YOUR IMPROVED DIETS
Sheilaz
What lovely, positive news reported on this thread. Well done everyone, and we're here for you on the tough days. Thalia, would you have the space for a 2nd hand piano yourself sometime? It would be good to reward yourself with a new hobby, and daughter would enjoy it too! If it's something you'd like to have done, it's never too late to learn. You can get good beginners books, I'd get a child's one (ELC?) & teach yourself. What do you think? I'm glad you're off to such a good start.
Guest
Piano tutors: OH taught the piano for a while and would recommend the 'Michael Aaron Piano Course'. It has separate books from Beginner to Grade 5.
Hellcat
Red - fantastic news! Well done you! I'm always so impressed with people who can restrict what they eat, as I never have been able to (or, not needed to until recently). Thalia - just visited your blog and really glad its going ok for you. Fingers crossed (although 10 st is really very ickle!!). So long as you are happy and its working for you, thats great. red
Diet still going well - just got to shift another 2 lb to reach my interim target of 3 stones (that's lost - not weight!) Chicken on a mission
Sorry I haven't been about for a while I have been really concentrating on sorting myself out. I joined a weigh loss forum to really keep my mind on the job. I lost another 6lbs this week (plus a little bit) which means that I have lost 13lbs in the past 2 weeks I have been on LL. I'm now down to 15st 4lbs from 16st 3lbs I have weeded out my wardrobe this week and ditched the clothes I won't be able to wear again and moved the size 20's and 18's into my main wardrobe ready to shrink into. The group therapy this week was really difficult and I nearly cried a couple of times as things hit home. That's a good thing as it means it's working I won't take up the thread with it but it's all on my blog (which I also save in word and is up to 42 pages and more than 19,000 words ). The other revelation in the past month is that I think my regular 'symptoms' around my monthly hell may be relieved by diet It's all in the blog. Sheila, as far as taking up the piano is concerned, I have a spare lounge that we never go in except to throw all our gear in ready to list on ebay so space isn't a problem. I have to same that as far as a hobbie is concerned I have been looking into microlighting and flying lessons. The airfield at Lee-on-the-Solent is less than 4 miles away so I can fly over the top of my house although they don't do microlighting which is what I would really like to do I have some birthday money put aside and will treat myself to a trial flight upon successfully completing the 100 days foundation stage One of things I realised is that I was always VERY adventurous and extreme and my personality gradually changed as the the weight piled on But no more, I will get back to being me and trying all the things I have always wanted to do. Living right at the sea it is a travesty that I haven't been on a wet bike (a water motorbike) sonce I was about 19 so that's something else I'll have to put right Keep going girls. We can all keep making the effort and if anyone has a weak moment, that's all it was and you continue making improvement
