Guest
existentialism is, in short, the philosophical question of 'existence'. "I think therefore I am" and all that... The sign made me laugh because it says 'Ice may exist', it was just the wording of the sign really that made me laugh. I asked Kate to make me an 'eggsitentialist' so I suppose it's more of a private joke, don't worry if you don't get it, just pretend I'm not here xxx
Tessa the Duchess
Poet wrote: existentialism is, in short, the philosophical question of 'existence'. "I think therefore I am" and all that... Poet, you got there before me. I was going to compare it to that famous 'if a tree falls down in a forest and there is "Ooops, word censored!"ody there to hear it, does it make a noise?" never mind Tessa
BeckyBoo
Where on earth was that sign?! Just think, someone got paid for thinking it up and siting it at that particular place! What would happen if ice didn't exist, or maybe it doesn't anyway. And if everyone sees things differently ie; through their own eyes, own nerves, etc, who's to say that what I'm looking at and calling ice looks the same to you? Did you know that everyones rainbow is different? That's because evryone is standing in a slightly different place so sees the rainbow through their own set of rain drops. I've always quite liked that idea..... .......shouldn't this thread be posted a four in the morning after rather too much cheap wine in student accomodation with air thick with blue fragrant smoke.....? Rhapsody
sounds like the title for a Philosophy essay "Ice may exist- discuss" btw, if you google 'silly signs' and click on first result (the author asks you not to link it direct so I haven't)

Ditto! I also got a letter saying "we've received your application and are processing it". The same day, the courier arrived with the passports . Shouldn't complain, that was quick service . Ain't Nobody Here
We were in Holland on holiday a few years ago and were puzzled by this sign. There were no chickens to be seen . Turns out that it's Dutch for "cattle grid". Needless to say, every time we now see a cattle grid there's a loud cry of WILD ROOSTER .
