Christian
I have just seen an advert for a 20th anniversary edition of Dirty Dancing on dvd. It can't be 20 years since the film came out, can it?? Where has the time gone? All those years of misspent youth! I have never woken up in the gutter, using an old kebab as a pillow!!! Not knowing how I got there. I have barely lived!!

I was doing my A levels when that film came out and it was a cult film amongst a small group of us 6th formers. There was a time when I knew the dialogue word for word! "But sweetheart, you brought 10 pairs!" We used to jump in my friend's mini and go round to her house and watch it when we should have been studying! I don't think you're missing out on much not having woken up in gutter though Christian! yuk! Hang on, isn't it you Christian who says "it's never too late to be what you might have been" ?? Get out there and find your gutter!!!
Christian
One of the best lines was 'I carried a watermelon' and ""Ooops, word censored!"ody puts Baby in the corner'! I love the film, but really can't believe its 20 years ago. I do love my life, it has changed so dramatically in the past 2 years. I really can't imagine my life any better. BUT 20 years????? Guest
by the way, has Jennifer Grey had drastic plastic durgery? I wouldn't recognise her if I fell over her these days and it's not just because she's older, it's like she's got a totally new face! look at this http://www.imdb.com/gallery/hh/0000426/HH/0000426/iid_1265165.jpg.html?hint=nm0000426 Edited November 21, 2007 by Guest
chelsea
I thought that when I saw the advert too!! I had to double take..... Brings back fond memories for me...I saw it on my 15th birthday in the cinema (yes, I really am that old )and went with my friend and her brother who I had a HUGE crush on at the time.. I was quite embarrassed/shy because it was a love/romance film, and he was sat next to me!! great film and I know the lines off by heart. Egluntyne
Patrick is so old now And he looks as if he has been to a bargain basement plastic surgeon.

redfrock
And he looks as if he has been to a bargain basement plastic surgeon. i couldn't beleive it when I saw him in the Orange Wednesday ads. Really quite freaky. I think I will age (dis)gracefully rather than ever subject myself to the horrors of the knife .... And 20 years ohmigod - that is just scary. feemcg
I read that Jennifer had a nose job because she felt she would 'go further' in Hollywood, but it completely back-fired on her and the film offers dried up!
Laura & CTB
Me and my best mate used to spend evenings watching this on video - we used to rewind and watch the same bit over and over, so much so that we stretched that bit of the tape and for months we had to watch a "wonky" bit (you can probably guess which bit)
Cinnamon
Thanks Christian, you have made all of us feel old too now It is a great movie, isn't it? I must get my girls to sit & watch it with me sometime. I remember thinking the dancing was everso raunchy when I first saw it, & I also remeber watching it with my Dad in the room, which made me cringe because of that. I never liked Patrick Swayzee much to be honest. He walks funny,(although he looked hotter in Point Break)
Jules.
I love the film too- & I saw it when I was 15 at the cinema Did anyone see the couple who danced the dance at their wedding? Then they were on Oprah the other week & Patrick Swayze came on & danced with the lady! She said he was a very strong dancer......! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYhlm9GTAQ0

I loved the way they had the other guests involved as dancers behind him and getting everyone else up to dance, just like in the film- must have taken hours and hours of practice. Our friends did the dance from 'Pulp Fiction' at their wedding. That was really cool too
