Egluntyne
Only gripe is that the water tank empties too quickly - but it would be too heavy then, so I suppose it's just right as it is It does....but it is easy to detach and refill and it heats up again in seconds. I should know....I must have filled it up half a dozen times to do my cooker top. It is fab for greasy tiles.

Guest
I'm so relieved that folk are pleased with it! Well . . . my steamer arrived this morning, as you know. I have had such a busy day that I haven't tried it until now. (Thought: MUST try it before bed!) But, I can't get any steam The light came on and went off at a suitable time, the machine feels hot and sounds as if it's working, but there is no steam. Am I doing something wrong? Another question: Are the brushes meant to spin? - cos mine don't!
Egluntyne
Oh no! No the brushes don't spin. Have you put the little thing with the brass ball in it?

You're feeling the pressure, aren't you . I have a feeling you're going to be our "help-line" from now on . (Don't worry, I'm happy with mine, just haven't had time to really test it out .) Phew....that is good to hear! I shall be really disappointed if Ginette is not happy. Maybe hers is a faulty unit.
Guest
I'm not unhappy, just bitterly disappointed. I suspect I may have the only duff one. It's worse knowing they are out of stock now! Yes, the brass ball is in there.
Egluntyne
I'm really sorry.... I feel responsible. They will send you a replacement I assume.
Guest
Do you own John Lewis then? You're not at all responsible. Everyone else is thrilled, so I clearly have one that doesn't work. I'll just have to leave the grime for another day.
Snowy
Ginette, mine did that at first. I think it takes a little time for the pump to get the steam going through. Let it run for a few minutes and hopefully the steam will come through.

I held the button down for several minutes but still nothing, so I left it on the side to properly heat up as I noticed the body became warm last night. I tried it again - nothing. Then I tried it again and after about 30 seconds, the awful noise stopped and steam started to come out. OH is busy now Thank you - this forum is now a free troubleshooter too! Egluntyne
Hurrah!!! That's a load off my mind! I've found another use for it. I've just been giving the downstairs bathroom a good fettling (in between looking at the forum) and when I did the shower cubicle I found myself surrounded by steam....and low and behold....for the first time in about 2 weeks I can breathe through my nose.....it's a miracle. It cures sinusitis!!!!!!!!!
Guest
I'd better rush off to the shower cubicle then! I've been plagued with sinusitis for several weeks now. I'll have to wrestle the machine off OH first though . . .
The Dogmother
Glad to hear they're all being put to good use - I'd love one, but January is a hard month (6 weeks to get out of this pay packet as we get paid early in December). I called my folks to see if I can borrow my dads, but his (cheapo) one broke and he chucked it away It'd be great for the kitchen floor tiles.
