Lesley
I haven't had time to try mine yet - later today........ I caved in because it would be cheaper than having someone to clean the oven as well. My oven doesn't need an outsider yet............ but the steam cleaner will make sure I don't have to get anyone in
Ziggy
I'm wondering whether it will help with the upholstery on the dining room chairs... I am thinking of having them re-upholstered because they are so mucky (four young children... not furniture friendly), but might give the steamer a try first (not got it yet)... Leia is still only 18 months old and starting to feed herself, and will not sit in a highchair, so the chairs are likely to suffer some more... if the steamer helped a bit, maybe I could wait to have the chairs re-done until Leia is a little older... Ziggy
It's here.... It just arrived... I feel there should be some rolling of drums, or 'indiana jones' type music or something, to accompany the opening of the box...
Tessa the Duchess
Too weird, I didn't order one last night as I couldn't find my credit card, hid it so I wouldn't be tempted to use it Then this morning there was the post about discount codes when buying online so I was searching to see if there were any for JL then someone offered a steam cleaner on Freecycle which I have just replied to saying 'yes pleeeeeese' let's hope I get it so I can stick to my nothing new resolution Tessa
chickenlass
Well I've been reading this thread for a few days now and I have been shamed into getting my steam cleaner out of the cupboard.... God I had forgotten how brilliant they are, All the marks on my living room carpet when lumps of coal and the dog has made a mess have come off...the kitchen floor has never looked so clean and the electric hob is gleaming!! Thank you all for helping me get off my bum and use the best piece of KIT anyone can have. [it's a Polti by the way....I got it when Allder sdepartment store closed down in York]
Egluntyne
I love that emoticon. I have just persuaded my hair dresser that she needs a steam cleaner. She was heading towards Coles (JLP) this afternoon"!

Brilliant idea! Hadn't thought of that - mine are cream, not a good idea with children, and definitely look the worse for wear. Will give it a go on them! Snowy
Another use for the steamer - glugs and grubs! Had a go at my glug. Here it is next to it's matching grub. They were both the same colour!

Egluntyne
I just bung mine in Phil's dishwasher Clever move....I never quite fancy putting mine in the dishwasher.
The Dogmother
Nor me, but I don't have a dishwasher and it's his, so I don't worry - it all gets steam cleaned at the end anyway.
Ziggy
okie... the only job I've done with the device so far, is the dining room upholstery... they're dark red, and were so awful that I was starting to cringe at the idea of anyone actually seeing them... well I wouldn't say they look like new, but really it's not far off... I definitely don't feel I would ever think 'these really need to be re-upholstered' looking at them now, compared to how keen I was to have them done a few days ago... Can't say I have the same result on the conservatory dining suite, but the upholstery there is light in colour, and the muck on them both older and of a more lethal variety (kids do all kinds of stuff on that table, so food, paint, glue, all kinds of stuff has got on those chairs over the years)... Well... so six chairs that I don't need to get re-done... I think this device pretty much paid for itself on the very first job it did!! Tessa the Duchess
So I didn't get the steam cleaner on Freecycle so have just ordered one from JL free delivery at the mo I hope I don't turn into a cleaning maniac, but I'm already going around the house thinking hmmmm that would come up beautifully with a quick steam Tessa
Olly
I hope I don't turn into a cleaning maniac, but I'm already going around the house thinking hmmmm that would come up beautifully with a quick steam Tessa I am doing exactly the same thing, Tessa - very impressed with the Glug and Grub photos! I don't like to put mine in the dishwasher. Maybe we should do some 'before' and 'after' photos! I have very high hopes for my oven, hope I won't be disappointed. One Man Banned
Might try steaming my dining room chairs then I have used the upholstery tool on the Bissell Cleaner we have for the carpets but I think it soaked them more than cleaned them As for the Grub&Glugs mine always get thrown in the dishwasher, at the same time as Molly's food and water bowls go for a rinse A xx
Blackrocksrock
Andrew Off Topic but what Bissell do you have and is it any good - fancy one of them myself but going to get a recon one from Bissell much cheaper if they are any good. Its a Powerwash Deluxe, white with blue bit at the bottom. There's a more expensive dark one they do that heats the water itself and an indicator to show how effective you sweep with it (not worth it in my opinion) Does a fab job on our cream carpets A xx

jomaxsmith
There's a more expensive dark one they do that heats the water itself and an indicator to show how effective you sweep with it (not worth it in my opinion) I borrowed ones of those from a friend (Bissell ProHeat I think it is) and on my cream carpets it freshened up the lightly marked bits but didn't do a lot for juice stains or well trodden down areas. And it used so much shampoo (about £10 worth just for my lounge) that for me it isn't worth buying one - I know a chap who comes round with his industrial machine and does the whole house for around £80 Jo
Blackrocksrock
Bit of a problem them as I dont want to buy another expensive toy to sit in the cupboard and then get freecycled some time down the line!!!!!!! Ummmmm
