Cinnamon
What are they Laura? Sounds interesting
Laura007
they are little plugs that have mushroom spores in and on them. you get a log, drill some holes in and shove your plugs in the holes. voila a little while down the line you have mushrooms. http://www.independentoffers.co.uk/I-FF-INDW110-GP-1/Marvellous-Mushrooms.htm

Becka
I'm interested in the replies too as I had considered doing these. I did try the oyster mushrooms on the straw bale but wasn't very keen on the results. I don't think an abundance of mouldy looking fungus on damp straw was really the look I was hoping to achieve in my conservatory! Blackrocksrock
I have seen them done - its on birch logs isnt it? There was a lady used to sell them at the farmers market in Elgin a few years ago.
chickencam
We bought a ready done log once and lovingly did everything we were told to do with no results We were going to have a go in the autumn with a branch from a tree in the school playground which overhangs our allotment, but we didn't get round to it I believe that the autumn is the best time to do them, putting the plugs into freshly felled timber, Maybe this year. xScrunchee
My Mum was speaking about this yesterday but she is having trouble getting hold of the logs as they have to be quite fresh. How did you get on with yours in the end Laura?
Laura007
my next door neighbours son in law is a tree surgen, so we scammed them into giving us a couple of logs. they are all in the log but i dont reckon i will see anything for a fair while.
