I'm so upset

Recommended Posts

Hmmm, more calls needed methinks and see if you can speak directly to 'the man'. They really are in the wrong here Michelle, and should certainly act as such too!

One thing that I found worked in a similar situation was to go down there with a book and baby in tow to 'wait until he will see you'... it's amazing how quickly they can drop their round of golf when someone with a noisy wee baby and the intention of making a nuisance of themselves appears!!!

Go for it girl *rolls sleeves up ready for a fight* we're all right behind you.

thats terrible  totally negligent, we in the nhs are human & can make mistakes but there is no justification for cutting off the wrong bit. There are obviously some training issues to deal with for this Dr & his boss needs to know.

I'm sorry to hear that you have had to go through this with your chick poorly too

sending you lots of hugs

Phone the hospital switchboard and ask to be put through to the consultants secretary.

Tell her all about it and insist that they get back to you immediately.

Ask for a copy of the hospitals grievance procedure. That should shift 'em.

Complain about the receptionist....in writing. She is not a diagnostician...it is not for her to decide which patient is a priority.

I am so sorry you are having all this trouble.

 I have this image playing in my head of you lot turning up on mass with a chicken under each arm :lol: Oh that has made my day!!!!

I still have not heard anything, I guess he's busy  , with his more important people

This is at Stoke Mandeville Hosp.

I think I might ring them again, and if I still don't get any joy, turn up there at some point, with baby and make a royal stink

Oh Goodness I don't wan't to go that far Egluntine! My hubby thinks I should get really cross too and can't beleive how calm I'm being! I just want it sorted so I can get on with my life. I don't wan't to be know as that woman who complained! I probably sound daft!

Thanks for your offer of support Clare, I have to stay here for now as baby is asleep, so I'll see how I feel about it later.

I have been trying very hard to forget about it today. I have been up the garden and taken some photo's of chickens and dogs! Will be posting some later, in my other thread at the moment in the chicken clinic! If I can work out the size thing!

Thank you all for your support! You are all such a help! :D

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo annoyed!

The hospital finally phoned me back at five to three! I phoned them at 9.15 this morning! She said they could 'fit me in' in two weeks time! I don't think so! She also said that he would not have done the wrong thing it probably just feels like he's not done the right thing!!!!! I said I think I know the difference between the front of my mouth and the back of it!

Anyway I had to threaten them with the papers to get an appointment! And even then I have to go and sit and wait until the end of his clinic today!

What annoys me the most is that he did not even have the balls to ring me himself, he was sat next to whoever it was I was speaking with and she kept relaying what I was saying to him :shock: Beeping man!

So I am going in at 4.20 and probably will not be seen until 5! How annoying with a baby to have to sit there!!!!!

She told me at first I would have to get there at 4 and wait, and I asked when the last appointment was and she said 4.20, but if that appointment does not turn up, he would go home and not wait. I said 'if he knows I am coming in then he should wait' she said 'no'. I said I don't think that you are understanding me correctly. He made a mistake yesterday and I will be seen today! :wall:

In the end we agreed I would get there at 4.20 but she was not happy! :? I thought I was the one who had been misstreated not the other way around!!!!!!

Cross, Cross and a bit more Cross!!!!!!!!!

What a snotty cow!!!

Her, not you!!!

Good for you Michelle

It's not easy to make me angry, but I'd have bitten her head off and spat it out.. and as for him... golf clubs... dark place...

Be calm and firm when you get there, you know your rights; he is in the wrong, so don't let them make you feel bad. Make sure that he does exactly what you want and that you're happy before you leave.

I'd still take this further.. sheer incompetence if you ask me!

This is absolutley ******** ridiculous. If you have any more problems with them tell them instead of talking to you they can speak to your solicitor!!!!! There needs to be some serious backside kicking here. I wish I could come with you

Make sure you keep a note of what is said and done and don't let them mess you around. At the end of the day you are paying him (via the NHS) to do a job and if he doesn't do it properly you can always ask for another consultant (one with a brain cell might be good!!!!!). You don't need to be aggressive just extremely firm and remember the solicitor thing - the mere hint of a legal case usually unsettles them enough to kick start the one brain cell they have between them.

Sending you loads of positive vibes and huge hugs (and sending the Consultant a huge painful blister on his backside :twisted: )

I feel much better now I have been in to see him. He was very nice and ate humble pie very well. He has admitted he was wrong, and that is all I wanted really!

I have to go back in one month to have the lump removed that I should have had done yesterday! He could not do it today as it would be too sore after yesterday's!

He has explained why he did what he did, and it sounds reasonable enough! We all make mistakes, so having heard him out I think it was just that.

I'm not going to take it any further, I don't have unlimited time and I'm just too tired to be worrying about something else. He knows he did wrong and that's good enough for me. Probably sounds daft  !

Sorry to disappoint any of you who like my hubby thinks I should take it further!

Thank you all for your support with this.

Basically he had read the consultants report and had understood it to mean one thing, when in fact it meant something else. He read the report to me, and I can understand why he did what he did! I can't really see who you would blame, I guess he should have asked me to make sure he was doing the right thing, but that did not happen.

Oh well never mind, I just wish my Beeping mouth did not hurt!

Oh Michelle, what a NIGHTMARE. I'm so glad he admitted he was wrong and that he read the report, if you're happy with that then that's all that matters. I'm still despairing about what's happened, I think it's terrible although I'll quite happily admit that we are all human and mistakes can happen. Anyway, it's done with, if you change your mind later on you can still take it further, but it would take a lot of energy and be very stressful so (having spent most of this thread ranting) I absolutely understand you putting it behind you and moving on. Can you have a drink with the painkillers you're on? if you can I would go and pour yourself a big one.
