Cinnamon
Its all going to start happening tonight, apparantly. The South is going to be battered by winds of up to 80MPH, with it lasting through until Monday morning. Batten down those hatches - Hubby is outside now lashing the pink Eglu onto its stand & all the Eglu doors will be shut tonight
theherd123
Oh crikey - looks like you are in for a night of it Sarah! The weather forecast for the midlands stated that this weekend would be miserable with heavy rain, clouds and strong winds and we havent seen a bit of it! The sun is shining now
feemcg
It's one of those weird mornings here - sun is shining and it's very still - the calm before the storm methinks, although I don't think we've to get it as bad as the South. We had horrendous weather yesterday afternoon - heavy hail, rain, sleet, thunder and very windy.
Laura007
i have got to to get up at 2am to go to luton airport, i can see that being a fun trip down the motorway. hopefully not much traffic and not mant high sided lorries at that time of day. Lesley
Oh crikey - looks like you are in for a night of it Sarah! The weather forecast for the midlands stated that this weekend would be miserable with heavy rain, clouds and strong winds and we havent seen a bit of it! The sun is shining now Midlands weather forecasts are "Ooops! word censored" - you may as well take your pick from everyone elses forecast We're collecting our rescue hens shortly....... and can't decide where to put them when we get back We were going to start in the small shed.... but that may not be as stable as the Eglu if we have gales I think we'll just tie everything down that we can Beautiful morning here at the moment...... Egluntyne
Beautiful here too! Hard to imagine what it is going to be like.
bronze
Could you put them in the eglu in the small shed. That way they get the best of both worlds and the glu would protect them if the shed saw its last night.
Lesley
We are just pondering that Bron - we're hoping the Eglu will fit - we want them to get used to the Eglu really.......
hillfamily
Just been watching the news/weather and the severe weather warning triangle was right over us on the south coast  they are advising people to stay away from the coasts - I'm a 10 mins walk from the sea - hope that's far enough away :anxious: I'm off to batten down the hatches....... BeckyBoo
It got a bit wild in the night blowing and raining, I'll think of you Laura, I finish work at 2am so we'll have to battle the winds together. It's been lovely here this morning although when we were finisheing the dog walk yo ucould feel the temperature start to rop and it got quite chilly. Dog didn't mind though, she's wet, muddy and tired, just like the kids. Peace for half an hour!! Mrs Bertie
feemcg
The met office have changed their warning chart - looks a bit less severe now, fingers crossed.
Sarah B
I'm dreading it, 2 new chooks, one not well and a pink eglu, 7 miles from the south coast here. I'm going to take the winter cover off the run to avoid potential lift off so if the chooks have any sense they will stay in the eglu mostly tomorrow. I will put some treats by the eglu door in the morning before I go to work. I have also secured the run with extra run pegs.
Egluntyne
Just come back from a day in Buxton. The views as you approach Sheffield on the way back are panoramic and we could see several areas, as far as Newark, with dark clouds and torrential rain. All quiet here. So far. Fingers crossed. Christian
Take care everyone. Back from work now, until late tomorrow night, had instructed OH to batten down the hatches and storm proof the eglus. He has put away anything and everything from the garden and got the camping stove out of the garage - we always lose power in storms We are on the edge of Salisbury plain and it is always very windy here. feemcg
There's been so much 'hype' about the storm it must be quite scary sitting waiting for things to happen . I hope everyone 'down there' doesn't come off too badly.
Egluntyne
I keep looking out of the window. Quiet as can be here at the mo.

Egluntyne
Good Lord! The PM had a crisis meeting with the emergency services and the army last night! Either they are just covering themselves after the floods of '07 and the denials of a hurricane in '87......or they genuinely believe there is going to be mayhem! Grey wet and foul here this am. Not much in they way of wind. Yet.
Cinnamon
Its vile here & very windy, with the wind due to get worse throuout the day. The girls school is in the middle of a woods,so I am trying to find out if its open today, also their coach may not be able to get in if there are trees down along the route....... I have already told Devon to drop her after school activites today as I am uncertain if I can get in to collcet her & school will be shut at 6pm - Hubby is away so I am loath to go out on my own to try & pick her up
