Snowy
Watching it now on film 4. Long time since I've watched it - what a classic! This is such a brilliant film, I'd forgotten just how funny it was!

Snowy
Brilliant, it still makes me cry (and laugh! )
Eyren
Great movie - the dole queue scene is wonderful! Plus it brings back memories of my cousin's wedding, where the best man and his mates did their own routine to "You can keep your hat on"! Couperman
My fav scene in that film is the one where the ginger fella is trying to top himself but his car won't start. The other two passing by helpfully give him a hand to get it started and then realise two hundred yards down the road what he is up to! British dark humour at it's best! Kev. bronze
I also like the one where theyre in the middle of water and try and act casual as that bloke walks past. You know the cinema it shows the inside of at the beginning. My brother watched the full monty there said it was very weird being in and watching a film watching a film there at the same time. Cinnamon
I love the bit when they are doing their pelvic thrusts to 'Hot Stuff' while in the dole queue, without realising what they are doing - classic stuff! I can now never hear that song without picturing that scene,& that is a sign of brilliant film making Edited March 11, 2008 by Guest
chelsea
I must be the only person who doesnt like this film! Doesnt make me laugh at all
Snowy
As I watched it again last night, I spotted all those little tiny moments of humour - very clever writing! When Gaz wants a jacket for the funeral and Dave asks 'what colour?'. And the bailiffs trying to take Gerald's furniture and them all stood there in their boxers telling them to get lost; and when they buy Gerald a little wooden cart from the junk shop to say sorry for wrecking his job interview. And throughout all that, the sadness of Gaz's situation with his son and Gerald lying to his wife. Very poignant
Mrs Frugal
First time I saw The Full Monty, I just didn't get what all the fuss was about and was really disappointed.........but then I watched it again and the more I watch it, the funnier and sadder it gets. It's one of my favourite films now and we always catch it if it's on TV.
Snowy
Do you think the language is a barrier at first? I've heard people say that there is too much swearing. To me it makes it more authentic - as a northerner (admittedly lancashire rather than yorkshire) it just sounds so familiar and real. Egluntyne
It is a very accurate portrayal...believe me.

chocchick
I keep meaning to watch it now I know Sheffield, just to spot landmarks. Apparently they walk up Blake Street which is so steep it has handrails, and they magically jump between locations whilst walking.
chickencam
A very touching film as well as being really funny, very British. I think it probably helps if you have some experience of dry northern humour I also love Kinky Boots another British classic all the better for being based on a true story
Popcorn
I love a good British film, with clever humour like that. Full Monty is brilliant. I watched a bit last night, but sleep got the better of me. Calendar Girls is another witty film, and I love anything by Mike Leigh - Secrets and Lies, Nuts in May, Vera Drake etc. Some not quite so light hearted, more social realism. This is my favourite bit too! I also like the bit where the bigger built chap, (cant remember his name) wraps himself in clingfilm in an effort to lose weight and then eats a chocolate bar! missuscluck
Great film but resisted the temptation to slip into comfort zone viewing and I watched 'White girl' on bbc2 which was excellent riveting viewing.
