They were too big, I'm afraid but I've resized them all for you. If you want to post any more at any time, PM me and I'll help you as I can resize them with a photo programme with a click so that you can upload them to Photobucket without worrying about resizing them.

Lovely photos, by the way :D .

Your girls are real beauties--thanks for posting their pics. I had my Jack Russells for more than 20 years and they compete with hens for personality! Given that my darling home bred and born last Jack lived to be 17 years old but was incontinent for her last five years and doubly incontinent for the last two years, hens seem to be an easier option.

Critters of whatever ilk, bless 'em!

The run cost about £140 in materials but we reused some stuff we had already and the labour was free (supplied by OH and eldest son). The fence and trellis were already there and so was the flowerbed (which we nearly took out but I'm so glad we didn't, the chooks love it.) The area was also already nearly all slabbed, as it's where we used to keep our bins, so they only had to concrete around the edges and concrete in the weld mesh attached to the bottom of the fence.

They attached the roof with joist hangers going from the garage eaves to the fence and then covered with corrugated plastic. OH made the front panels and gate to measure (copied from the run inspiration pics on here) and backed the existing trellis with weld mesh. The eglu platform and ladder were made from some bits of old timber he had in the garage.

it took about three weeks evenings and weekends but mainly because they redid the roof twice as they weren't happy with it (looked fine to me but what do I know....)

And the Welcome sign was a fiver off ebay and the branch was free from the woods! OH has been a trooper considering it's taken about two years to get him to agree to chickens and now he spends more time out there than I do!

Kate - thank you very much for fixing the pics - will PM for advice before posting any more.

It looks like it cost about £800 :D It's so good. Trouble is my only labour is OH and I'm not sure I could convince him on the matter as he says 2 chooks is enough, plus he is not that keen on building things :?

I'd love to have a hen house like yours though - maybe if I had a small win on the lottery I could hire someone to build one for me! In the meantime I'll just have to gaze at the pic of yours! :)
