Healthy Eating Chat Part 1

Recommended Posts

I've lost 9lb since New Year :D Just by not eating bad things, cutting out the booze and eating less.

I agree the BMI thing is not very good. I too am short and stocky and they always tell me I am overweight even when there's barely an once of fat on me ( usually happens in the summer when I cycle everywhere, sail several times a week). My Dad is an ex rugby player and suffers the same problem - he's really fit and hardly any flab and yet he's allegedly overweight

I started my new group tonight. It's a collaboration of different groups that have been wittled down to one or two. All the women had lost vast amounts of weight from 5 to 11 stone. We had a great councelling session with a good discussion on what are the signs of true hunger. At this point I thought I don't think I've ever really been hungry. It was like a lightbulb had gone on in my head.

We'd all experienced the signs of being dehydrated, headachey, light headed but not ravanously hungry.

Of course we all suffered from emotional hunger and hunger at ritualisic times, i.e. it's my 1pm lunch break therefore I am hungry.

I've learnt so much about why I used to eat excessively or wrongly.

Anyway, I had a great weight loss of 6lb taking me over 7 stone lost

You're all doing so well - apart from steve wright, perhaps he should join in! - and me, cos i keep making things like sponge and brownies and nibbling them.

I do get hungry though - empty tummy feelings, very weak, cross and that need to eat!! and it's not dehydration cos i drink plenty (and not alcahol usually either!!) So if there's any ideas for what works when you're really really hungry, bring them on!!

I thought I was hungry too when in fact it was the low after a carb high! One of the things that I've learnt from abstaining from food is how sugar and ceratin carbs really affects your hunger and moods. Not that I was a hideous monster before  I did have moments of 'emotion' for no reason, mainly due to carb abuse.

I think I will be following a low GI index diet to maintain my weight. I really don't want to return to being dependant on quick release carbs like I have certainly been in the past.

Woo Hoo, I have now lost 10lbs since January 1st. Only a week to go until I go on holiday and I am feeling fab! Loads of great tips on this thread, keep up the good work all my fellow losers!

My best tips: Have a good breakfast ( 2 poached eggs on toast ) have lots of good home made veg soup and have a treat a day. Mine has been two squares of chocolate a night. And if you fall off the waggon now and again just climb back on again! Last weekend as I already wrote I had a bit of a blip but am now right on track again. :D

And this is my 201st post too 8)
