AJuff
Day 4 and the going is still good. Evenings are the worst but I have been walking away on the treadmill whilst watching The Tudors. I feel better as tonight one of my skirts was a much better fit than the last time I wore it. It may be my imagination but I'm not weighing or measuring until next Tuesday. I have replaced all snacks with healthy ones and continue to drink lots of water. I am eating my usual three meals a meals alongside. Even the Jaffa cakes have been left in the cupbord . . now there's a first!! Weekends should be a testing time . . . Saturday night in front of the TV with snacks . . . Plum
Well done AJuff getting started and exercising. It has taken me ages to make a start, like most of us I have tried many times but having reached 15st 4 lb am now going to go down and am using weigh"Ooops, word censored!"ches point plan to get started. I've lost 9lb so far but not taking any exercise except looking after chooks. What are people having for healthy snacks? Late afternoon is when I start drooping. I've got a pedometer too but after a busy day it only showed 9 steps

You are so inspiring that I will now make an effort to get rid of the stone that is making my clothes feel pretty damn tight!
Plum
There is a downside. My chicken trousers (very elegant) slip down, better make sure I have clean knickers on
AJuff
Afternoon snacks are great for stopping me eating a three chocolate bars before dinner. I like sunflower seeds, bananas, dried apricots and strawberries.
Plum
mm dried fruit would do it for me. Thanks
Guest
Well I am actually SCARED to go for my weigh in tomorrow - but I will. 10 days of amazing food and drink have taken their toll, clothes are tight and I weigh 10 1/2 stone on my home scales - which weigh about half a stone light If its as I suspect I will have hit "overweight" for the first time since I finished lighterlife. I MUST have a week or two of absinence - just as the plums and tomatos ripen I WILL NOT go back to school being close to 11st rather than close to 10st. I also want to be closer to 10 stone for my appointment with the plastic surgeon at the beginning of September. To facilitate this I went IN the gym today rather than in the gym coffee shop. I also did the "eglu workout" dismatling, jetting, spraying and powerdering 2 red mite infested cubes before putting them back together in time for bed. Mind you then I had a G&T. Oh and if anyone doubts the need for the surgery - Mum took pictures of me in the bikini jetting the eglus - NOT a pretty sight.
AJuff
Stay positive . . it won't be that bad. Start again tomorrow. You do sound determined though
Hen Watch
I was debating going to Weighwatchers but I teach in the local school and hate the thought of seeing any parents! Go for it. Don't worry about pupil's parents.......It's your life, your body and any parents who spot you would think "oh no...... xxx's teacher has seen me at Weight Watchers"..... so they will think of themselves not you... I joined WW with a friend few years back and I am the most un-competative person on the plant. However.... knowing we were weighing in together each week, I just had to beat her. I lost 2.5 stone ...... and yes...... 2 years later I have put on 1 stone. But I am still so glad that overall I am 1.5 stone lighter and have maintained that for 2 years. Valkyrie
I have only just caught up on this thread. I desperately need to do something. I am not happy with myself and apart from the fact I like food, I also eat my emotions - today was one of those very moments, angry, stressed and down in the dumps. My mum baked a cake and I ate 2 large slices during the day (not both at the same time). I obviously feel better mood wise, but guilty because I know I didn't really want the second. After seeing a recent photo (well a sneaky one taken) I was disgusted at how badly overweight I am. We used to have mirror wardrobe doors, but not now - actually we don't have any large mirrors and I probably wouldn't look at myself even if we did. I daren't weigh myself because I know it's so bad. This afternoon I emptied out the wardrobe - all the size 10's 8's 12's and then I gave them to DD to keep or take to her charity shop. I can't bear the thought of looking at how I used to be any more. The last time I lost weight I managed to get down to 11 stone when DD was about 4. I did a fair amount of walking then. I bought a nice red trouser suit to go to OH's Christmas do. He said "what did you get that for, it's not that grand a place". Never mind "you look nice in that but I think we'll go somewhere nicer another time because you might find it's cold there" or perhaps it would have been better to tell me that woolly jumpers and thick trousers would be needed well in advance. I felt so bad I pigged out and haven't stopped since. So I would like to try and have a bash with you if that's OK. I don't want to go to Weigh"Ooops, word censored!"chers - did that before and felt so embarrassed by the "only a couple of ounces here" yelled out loud to the hall full of people. I used to swim a lot too, but too self concious to wear a swimsuit now. But I will measure myself and when I get somewhere I'll pop a before and after pic if that's acceptable. Sorry I'm waffling a lot.
Space Chick
An idea for quick sugary fix are mini meringue, depending on where you get them from they are 1/2 a WW point for 2 or 3. Dried fruit is quite high in points
AJuff
Koojie now's your time to act too! Facing up to it is the hard part I think. Get out the scales and the tape measure and publish it on here. Set yourself a realistic target and achieve things slowly one step at a time. I haven't gone all out mad denying myself everything as I know it wouldn't work for me. I have cut out the cakes, biscuits, crisps and chocolate I love so much and replaced them with fruit and diet pespi because they're sweet and it helps my cravings. I have also kept my normal meals just replaced butter with Bertoli/Olivio, full fat milk to semi-skimmed and given myself smaller portions of carbohydrates but more of the protein. OH has always told me "If you can't put less in you must put more out" So I have started excercising regularly. It is working for me as I can feel it but I'm leaving the weighing and measuring until Tuesday. Also I put a post on here last night when I was feeling very much like a snack. A great diversion from food. So far so good and for once I am very determined. Go for it Koojie!!!
Valkyrie
Well, I cut down the portion of cereal this morning. I also had it later so that I wouldn't feel so hungry so quickly. For lunch I had a slice of toast with a teaspoon of OH's crab apple jelly. For drinks 2 lots of coffee and 2 lots of herbal tea. No milk (I prefer black coffee anyway). I want to do it so that the others (family) don't know what I'm up to. I drink caffeine free diet coke (basically it's because I have my coffee so strong - not that it's because it's diet! ) as a treat at the weekends. The milk I have is skimmed - and only used with cereal (probably not having enough though). OH wants scampi and fries tonight - I will have the same, but will cut down the portions for me. I have also been chewing longer rather than chew gulp and swallow because I'm not racing! Actually that seems to be a family thing, my grandmother and brother do the same. Now my mum hardly eats anything and when she was younger she would only have an egg beat up in warm milk and a teaspoon of sugar. It's quite nice really, although I prefer it without sugar. She was painfully skinny - probably an anorexic before that was diagnosed. I like my bread without butter, but because everyone likes their food with cream (like Korma or OH loves my cholesterol special - seafood pasta - I do tend to overdo the sauce there). My main thing is the choccies that I binge with. No choccie apart from Green and Blacks 70% dark which I use for cooking with - yuk on it's own, so not inclined to sneak tasters there. Haven't had biccies for ages unless we make them ourselves. Luckily DD fed up making them at the moment (they do taste sooo nice). And I'm not too fussed with crisps unless I am having a down moment and I have to eat something. The apples have just started to ripen on the trees so I have had a couple of those (but not today yet). Always have grapes handy (can't think why), and banana's which I love but they make my mouth itch. OK Chest 48!!! Waist 42 Tum and hips 53 gross gross gross. Valkyrie
18 stone and a couple of markers (didn't have specs on)! That's more than twice I used to be. That is sooo bad. I am going to scoff a Sungold tomato. Sweet but full of goodness.
Space Chick
Well done on taking the first steps Koojie I will add my vital statistics at some point too.
Valkyrie
4 Sungolds and 3 Cherry Ripes (not as satisfying as the Sungolds though). Still taste them yummmmm. PS Jlo has very kindly offered herself up as a walking buddy - I can ask Jlo to confirm the vital statistics. Not very Raquel Welch is it.
Guest
I weighed 10 stone 10 today Exactly the 6 pounds on that I said would happen on holiday. My ideal is 10 to 10 stone 3 so at least 7lb to come off. Now I COULD take that off in a week if I did abstinence but I don't feel like it - it's plum season. So its breakfast of yoghurt, lighterlife lunch, huge salady tea with maybe some protien but NO CARBS. Would also have to include plummy type snacks..... AJuff
Koojie I wished you lived nearer to me and we could meet up for a walk! I'm so pleased I'm not on my own. I've come onto the forum as I'm at the greatest risk of nibbling. OH is on night shift, DS is on a sleepover and DD (11) is still out with a friend at the cinema. I've made a cup of tea and I would go up to bed and read but I can't until DD is home. I've developed silly rituals whilst on holiday too. Whenever I sit at my desk I HAVE to put ten bits of paper away. It's the same in my room I HAVE to put ten things away. I write lists and HAVE to exactly what it says for that day. Perhaps I'm developing a compulsive disorder to add to my chaotic life!!!!
Plum
Well done Koojie, I have had a really bad day as it was my birthday hubby made packed lunch then take away tonight and chocs in between and now. I am so weak but going to start again!! I will eat better, I will eat better. Come on Debs join AJuff as well.
Rhapsody
Good luck to everyone starting out or restarting. I feel that facing up to your weight is a very important first step, I denied my weight gain for years and that first weigh-in at WW I nearly cried- at 5'2" I tipped the scales at 12st10 I could roll faster than I could walk! Can I recomend 'Skinny Cow' Triple choc ice creams? they come in at under 100 cals or 1.5 WW points. Not feeling deprived or 'on a diet' is to my mind an essential ingredient for success long term. Best of British everyone!
AJuff
Well I've managed a whole week and it's my Tuesday weigh in. 10st 7 3/4lbs - a loss of exactly 3lbs, lost 2" on my waist and 1" off my hips. Feeling very pleased with myself and it hasn't been as hard as I thought it would be!! Small changes have made all the difference.
Ain't Nobody Here
Well done . Keep up the good work . (That's exactly what I weighed yesterday .)
Valkyrie
OK measure up as follows Chest 47 Waist 44 Hips and tum 55 Yurk it's worse. Weight 18st 3 with wet hair and a towel - just in case poor DS came into the bathroom and died with shock Jlo and I did our walk and we survived. We kept a nice pace going - why are there so many hills here? Anyhow I think I might have worried her a bit with my huffing, puffing and gasping - I'm better on the flat. My face looked bright red when we got back. Still, the heart rate is going down, and my breathing is back to normal - I feel knackered though and I don't think I will venture upstairs juuuuust yet - I might get stuck halfway. And who invented stiles!!!! The kissing gates were much nicer. It was nice to get around the fields and see the changes - we even heard a yellow hammer tweeting away. We are quite lucky to have all that on the doorstep. I have been slowly cutting down on portions and the family haven't noticed - Jlo wanted to know why I wanted it to be a secret - because I will get teased and nice bad foodstuffs will be waved in front of me and consumed in front of me. Absolute torture! Still that's the first hurdle - and having Jlo to jolly me along, I can't back out either. Thankies J - I did enjoy it even if I did see double up the hill! Just kidding - it was quadruple.
Plum
Koojie well done with the exercise, phew you'll feel good tomorrow (when you get your breath back) I agree with not sharing your dieting with family but for different reason they try and control you saying you can't have things when you can and like you say often it's portion size. By the way was the towel around your wet hair (poor DS). and well done AJuff that is really good going losing that off your waist for 3lb lost, you must feel really good. I'm off to look for some of that ice-cream. Rhapsody have you lost your weight. If so how do you keep it off?
Valkyrie
My neighbour has brought chocs for looking after her house - boohoo. My bottom has got aches I didn't think possible - see me hobble! Yes the towel was round my head but at least I can see the scales still!
