Mrs Frugal
I've just had a rather unpleasant experience . Needing a caffeine fix, I went to check the stove top kettle to see if it had enough water in to squeeze out another cuppa and discovered a big, fat, dead spider floating around inside . Now I'm left with the nagging question - did it get in before or after I had my 6am cuppa .
MedusA
Oo-er! *shudder*
Richard T
I wouldn't worry Kate. Spiders are notoriously late risers so it wouldn't have been up and about at 6am. It probably went in there for a bath a lot later, when the water had cooled down.

Ziggy
Must be the day for spiders... DD2 lost a button from her schooldress last night and left the dress on the sofa for me to fix... I picked it this morning and looked at it to make sure it was the one with the missing button, and found a great big fat spider (not huge, but huge enough when holding the dress close to me) happily settled right on the spot of the missing button... I am not so bad at tackling spiders if I spot them from a distance, but to discover one so close on something I'm holding in my hands made me shriek and drop the dress fast!!! I'm officially declaring this day 'national spider day'... I'm glad mine wasn't in my coffee!!!
Mutrix Farmers
You'll be checking the inside of the kettle for weeks now
hillfamily
I really don't like spiders............I'm going to be doing this all day now Good job I've got lots of lovely chooks who will eat any giant, person eating, hairy, scary spider I find
lizinsa
You'll be checking the inside of the kettle for weeks now I think we all will! Just sat down with a cuppa to read the forum, had one sip before reading this, had to go back and look in the kettle! Thankfully it was spider-free although the limescale needs sorting
Mrs Frugal
You are so right! I am never going to boil the kettle again without taking the lid off first . I can't abide spiders and have a real phobia of them so, like Ziggy, I shrieked and panicked first before realising it was dead and wouldn't crawl on me . Snowy
Oooh Kate *shudders* It must be the day for them - the big hairy one I found in the laundry basket this morning got fed to the chickens I'm afraid
Cate in NZ
Oh, that poor drowned spider....... it must have felt the need for a caffeine fix as well.......they do say that caffeine isn't good for your health Have you recovered from the shock yet Kate
Keanie Bean
Dont worry Kate, apparently the average human eats about 8 amall insects without knowing in their lifetime, so your not alone. I'd be checking too though Sarah.x
