For the first time in 9 months...

Recommended Posts

I've had an alcoholic drink.

I've lost 10 stone - I feel like a different person, all my life I've been overweight, I was a size 16 when I left school in 1985. I was a size 28 last September and today I wore a size 10 dress to work!!! (I'm more a 12 - it was a big 10!).

I'm following management from Lighterlife and today I reached week 5, where you are allowed alchohol. I also had some VERY good news about my new job today (I was worried that I wouldn't be happy there but that's resolved itself). I know that from now on I can drink when I want to, I rarely drink at home but I wanted to celebrate and I wanted to see how it affected me.

So when I shopped yesterday I bought a mini bottle of champagne.

I've had 2 glasses - I have to say I feel a little squiffy.

I think my 10 pints in a night out days are over - good job really.

I enjoyed it but I won't bother again until I have a good reason to. (Actually thats a lie, I havn't finished the bottle and I can't stand waste!) My marriage broke down after my husband developed a drinking and gambling problem.

That's a truly wonderful achievement Penguy... I hope you thoroughly enjoyed the drink you had... all things are ok in moderation after all... you have had such amazing self control over all this time, I can only feel total admiration for what you have achieved.... and that 10 size outfit sure is worth a glass of champagne...

All my warmest congratulations go to you... :) Enjoy and moderate always :D

Size 10 - that's tiny!

Well done and congratulations. You are really inspiring.

I hope (I'm sure) you will keep thin and beautiful.

I'm not a big drinker. I love wine and lager but couldn't do the 10 pints a night - mainly because I'd be unconscious after the 3rd or 4th! Anything bubbly (champers, cava, fizzy wine...) makes me sick; and I don't do spirits.

I eat healthy 'Mediterranean' type foods - easy on the pasta and bread because wheat makes me very tired; yet, I've been steadily escalating from a size 12 when I arrived to the UK in 1985 to a size 18/20 now... I must try this thing people talk about, I think it's called 'exercise' or something...

You celebrate girl!

Ana x :)

Thanks again all. My confidence is high and I do feel amazing.

BUT now its the really hard work, keeping it off and getting into exercise to help.

I honestly can't remember not being overweight, I was an overweight teenager and have been that way ever since. I got another shock today when I realised that in skirts I really am more a 10 than a 12. In my mind I'm still fat so when I see my reflection it's always a big surprise. I think its when you see your reflection and still think you are fat that you are in real trouble.
