Nobody knows me on here so I can tell you........

Recommended Posts

(well we have met Jules, but I know she can keep a secret )....... we were interviewed this morning for being accepted onto a Fostering Course with our local authority.... and we have been accepted on to it :D

We still have a really, really long way to go yet - the 6 week course isn't until October and then we have to go through lots of assessments etc - but still we have to start somewhere.

We haven't told anybody else yet including the children as we wanted to get through this bit first.....so you Omleteers are the first to know!

Will tell the older 2 tonight (youngest won't understand that it will be next year if it goes ahead, so will tell her nearer the time). :D :D

I live very close to you! I know Warrington very well and used to work in Sankey Street and in Birchwood.

I'm adopted and was fostered for the first 6 months of my life (although I don't remember that time). Fostering is something I've given a lot of consideration to but not done anything about it so far for various reasons.

I'd love to hear how you get on! I wish you all the best! :D

Wow thanks for all your replies - I just needed to tell someone!

Also in those few posts how many people have been fostered/adopted - that is quite amazing too - you are a credit to yourselves :D:D:D

Our children are 17, 14 & 6 (but will be over 7 by the time we have gone through everything), so we have put down to do 0 - 6 as we think this is the best age for our youngest without it being intimidating for her.

We decided to go for it as we think we are good parents (blows own trumpet!), we are positive people, and very family centric. We have raised our children with very little help from extended family, so are quite used to mucking in etc!!

More to the point there are so many little ones out there who just need a a nice, happy, stable environment - hopefully thats where we come in. :D

Well done and congratulations on being accepted onto the course. A very worthwhile thing to do.

A friend of mine does emergency fostering and finds it very rewarding.....and hard work.

I'm another one who was adopted (but not fostered). :D

We are quite an exclusive group.

There was a thread a while back with all the stories.

Brilliant :D

A friend of mine fosters and is a social worker, cleverly wrapped up as almost a saint in my eyes, as most of the children she cares for short and long term come with alot of baggage :( it's a really worthwhile thing to do, I'd love to do it :D

Thats excellent news.

My sister is a fosterer although sometimes she finds it hard to let them go and has adopted 3 so far. As soon as one goes there is always another one to take their place.

Its sad that there are so many children with "Ooops, word censored!"py lives when all they ever want is to be loved.
