How big is your garden?

Recommended Posts

my mother in law told me it would only take 5 mins weeding a day and I'd be on top of it - I've never forgiven her, and she was WRONG!!! couch grass looks great once it's set seed!!!!

mmm, I tend to agree, I would like to see her upkeep an acre and a half with just 5 minutes of weeding a day!

No Busybird, our two have trashed their own grass, (it now resembles a quagmire with all this rain,)and have really had a good go at our grass. Most of it has recovered despite them! But they are funny and I think I have almost resigned myself to not having a'normal garden any more!!

Oh I do agree - 'normal' gardens have nothing like the character of a garden with chickens :D .

My 3 children bring friends round who do not believe that mine have pet chickens - and then watch in amazement as the chickens are fed by hand, gently picked up and follow my children around the garden waiting for treats.

I get texts from the friends I give eggs to telling me how they have cooked them and how delicious they are. I then get the empty boxes returned - in the hope of a refil :D

Chickens are the best addition to any garden. They trash 'their' grass and poo everywhere but are amusing, rewarding AND produce eggs 8) .

Hi guys,

Blimey all of u above have huge gardens compared to mine. :(

Our garden is about 7ft from the back door then a wide patch of grass that we can move the cube about on but that is only about 9ft by 6ft. We are hoping to buy some more garden space of around 15ft long by 14ft wide in order for us to have a much longer garden for our 4 girls. We have a field behind our garden at the moment so buying more would be so so much better.

We got our chooks last sunday and within 4 days the grass in the cube run where they are is looking pretty tatty even by now. :(:(

Got afew more days at least till we can let them out of the cube, bless them, I want them to know where home is :D

I will try and put some photos on here asap but Im not the best with techno stuff :?

Chat soon

Thanks, we have only been here since November and the people who lived here before us hadn't touched it for 4 years so it was a bit of a jungle.

As you can see we have cleared most of the front but still have to tackle the rear, we are tempted to leave some of it wild, though we are building some decking out the back so we can put up a summerhouse/sauna and Jacuzzi. No doubt it will take a while though.

Oh boy I wish we had a ride on mower but unfortunately the terraces are quite steep and only steps up and down so its just not possible.

I love looking at everyones gardens - all so beautiful :D Its as good as looking at peoples houses - I love looking on rightmove.

Our garden is about 80 foot long and about 25 foot wide, I love my garden apart from the noise from the airplanes going overhead.

 Me too

You all have a nice gardens, so neat. I am still taming mine - brambles, stinging nettles etc! It was sunny today, so I went a bit snap happy - got one inside the greenhouse if you want to peek at that too, but I didn't do close ups of the weeds/wild flowers in the wrong places! I think ours is about 75ft at the longest at the back but it is a funny shape.

Lou, still want that coffee??? I can make scones - big shop, I can get clotted cream - do I hear drooling anyone? The more the merrier! Not tomorrow, though, it's going to rain, and blow me down if it hasn't started already!

Really lovely gardens here. I am now embaressed about my garden pics now. It is alot tidyer now though. I am going to put up more pics once I have my new shed and things are more organised. I am working on the husband to build me a walk in run for the girls, I keep showing him the gorgeous examples from the forum.

But think of all the weeding! We've been here 16 years and only just in sight of getting things under control and then the blinking squirrels bury acorns in all the nooks and crannies and suddenly you find a mini oak plantation!
