little chickadee
Hurrah ! The housecraft cup is mine I only moved to the village in 2006 and it's taken me a while to get to know what is expected at the show, I now buy doileys for my cakes!!!! I think it was a fairly close thing with the previous cup holder, but I pipped her to it. My children are so proud! I'm afraid no picture as they took it away straight away to get it engraved. little chickadee
GRUMP GRUMP GRUMP I was just about to post about how I came 3rd overall for cookery in our village show today. Mind you I only entered in about half the categories - look out next year! WELL DONE YOU! Thankyou very much - sorry I stole your glory The trick is to enter as many things as you possibly can Pengy. I've been practicing the different catagories during the year, which has really added to my cooking repertoire! I can now make Quiches, pate & shortbread, which I didn't know how to make before. The question is, can I be bothered to try making a swiss roll for the Autumn show? Well done! What sort of cake did you make? Cakes - I made rock cakes (3rd prize) Cherry loaf to a given recipe with margerine - no prize Victoria Sponge - (1st prize) Shortbread - (3rd prize) I also entered a handmade card, 2 x jam, pate, quiche & cheese scones The pate can be made a few days before, and the jams/ cards ages before. I also made the pastry for the quiche on Thursday and put it in the fridge. I weighed out all the ingredients on Thursday night and then just leisurely baked on Friday as everything was already prepared. I'm not actually an organised person normally, but I know it's impossible to do all those catagories without pretending to be organised
