Egluntyne
I've started mine! Don't usually get into Christmas mode until well into October, but saw a couple of things this morning and made a start. Am impressed with myself and depressed about it at the same time! Mutrix Farmers
I was thinking about it at the weekend - does that count as starting?
BeckyBoo
I've had two catalogues through, and even started making mental notes. Plus I've got things brewing for Christmas hampers. It is a bit depressing isn't it? I need to spread the cost, but I also LOVE shopping in the few weeks before, getting loaded up with bags, seeing all the shoppers in the dark and cold scurrying about. Oh well. Only 15 weeks or so to go Mrs B
The Dogmother
Cripes, I haven't been to the shops in ages, let alone think about Christmas presents.

Old Speckled Hen
Everybody's getting one of these. http://www.pedlars.co.uk/page_53.html They're wonderful. There is a patch of blue sky amidst the storm clouds with the sun streaming in and mines whizzing round throwing rainbows round the room. Cheers me up no end!!! The Dogmother
Rosie would love one of those, but they need direct sunlight... not much of that around at the moment!
dancing cloud
Want one of those rainbow makers! want, want! Ok, now that's out of my system, I'm nowhere near thinking about christmas yet - still hoping (in vain) for some sun . Got several birthdays to go before christmas (Granny's 90 tomorrow - well done her!) and not enough paydays. As I live many hours drive from most of my family, pressies tend to be "deliverables", so home-made hampers are out. Could make one for my brother's family though - oh, oh, thinking about christmas now. It may be time to start making the list ...
hils78
Man you guys are FAR to organised for me lol - I only wish I could be like that! My daughters birthday is in October so Xmas shopping doesn't start till then I'm afraid. Saying that I've got her birthday present ordered & paid for & its waiting for me at the post depo because I wasn't in when it got delivered. Can you keep posting links to places with good prezzies like that rainbow maker - might get something similar for my OH's daughter... Guest
I started in January I think it was January, it was ages ago anyway. Bought lots of yankee samplers that were half price and some drawer scenters to go in my hampers, we sort of erm, drank the rhubarb schnapps I was going to use so we've got some raspberry liquer, strawberry wine and strawberry ratafia on the go. Might be able to make some more rhubarb schnapps with the last of the rhubarb. I just hope I've got the willpower to leave it alone! Also going to make some chicken shaped cookies, some lemon curd, boozy rhubarb petit fours (thanks Lynda) and I'm sure I'll get plenty more ideas on here
alih
I bought my nieces a rainbow maker last year and they loved it. another present that has gone down well is the sun jar - can't remember where I got them from but they effectively soak up light in the day and throw it out again as a glow at night - lovely for summer evenings (!!!!) and cool for older kids. Am sure if you google sun jar you will find it....
hillfamily
Yup.........I've well and truly started It's Christmas on a Budget this year so lots of homemade yummies (which personally I think is much nicer than a shop bought gift) Hamper lists drawn up - everyone this year is getting a Homemade Hamper full of yummy things :D Ocado have just delivered the ingredients for my chutneys, xmas puds, etc (thought as it's going to rain all weekend I would get started) Hamper bags ordered Presents for friends children sorted - girls will receive homemade chicken cookie kits (kilner jar with all the dry ingredients, laminated recipe card, chicken cookie cutter and a mini rolling pin, all put together in a small jute shopping bag with a wooden initial on) :D and boys have got fun traditional style gifts (thanks to Pedlars summer sale ) Have no idea what to get DS and DD - they don't need anything - so it will be a few stocking fillers so they have something to open. Chocolate swirly meringues for neighbours, vet and friends who live too far away to just pop round :D Ooooooooooo...........I'm feeling all Christmassy

BeckyBoo
I got my son a drum kit for his 3rd birthday in August, he hasn't stopped drumming since! Funnily enough, my neighbours don't seem too impressed Mrs B
Janty
My son was rushed into hospital when he was 13 months old and the one thing that cheered him up was a Little Tykes drum. It was very simple but he loved it. When my parents asked what to get him for the following Christmas I suggested one of these drums. When Christmas came they had bought him a full mini drum kit. I hated my parents that Christmas and for a very long time afterwards!

missuscluck
I am determined that this year we are going to have a proper traditional Christmas this year with no commercial hype. I have got 15 for Christmas lunch and I have my name on a turkey from a friends smallholding. The adults are not having presents, just table gifts which are to cost no more than £3.00 (my sister and I are sharing this task) Oh and I are not having presents and we have told the kids they cant have anything flashy as we are going to Florida at easter and this all needs paying for by Christmas. I to have started hampers going for any friends and familly that still need presents giving to. I bought a lot of candles and bits and bobs in the Pier sale a couple of mionths ago. I have got some Christmas stocking items for my girls already too. I love Christmas but if I dont get organised I get really stressed out.
