Whirlygig Cover

Does anyone have one of these covers and do they work?

Our tumble dryer has been on its last legs for two years and is gettting beyond the repairing stage. I do not want to replace it but we do not have radiators to drape wet washing over and short on space to have umpteen clothes horses dotted around the cottage.

These covers seems to be the solution, not cheap but cheaper and greener than a new dryer.

I'm sure there was something similar on Dragons Den once :? . I remember thinking it was a good idea :) .

I think if you're getting it instead of a new tumble drier it's a great idea. I don't have a tumble drier either and have 2 clothes horses permanently in our study/computer room :( . If you get one and like it I might be persuaded too!

Looks quite complicated working out what size you'll need though :? .

wow - I've never seen one of those. I much prefer drying things outside but (unless we get a proper summer :? ) it's usually only possible at weekends, so most of my stuff ends up indoors. I refuse to buy a tumble drier, luckily I've got a spare room to stick the clothes-horses in.

I'd like to hear some testimonials before I bought ... I mean, it LOOKS as if it should work ... but does it really?

If it's raining won't the washing still feel damp even if it's been undercover :?

I'm afraid I'm not green on the drying clothes front at all as having draped wet washing everywhere to dry for a good few years I refuse to have a house filled with condensation and damp from it now. If my TD broke I'd be straight out to buy another one

Hi

We have one of these and yes it really does work!

We decided not to get a tumble dryer (carbon footprint and all that)but I was tired of washing hanging in the bathroom on wet days!

The wind still blows through the sides but they don't get wet if it rains. That being said, at this time of year I find towels need a bit of airing when I bring them in but most other things are dry especially on windy days.

It is not a substitute for a tumble dryer if you want to dry clothes quickly but you can at least 'air dry' all year round. In the summer it is easily detached from the washing line but I tend to leave mine on all the time (just in case....).

It folds up easily when not in use if you need it to and comes with a handy little tool to make it easy to put in the ground :D. I had looked at American sites for covered washing lines but didn't feel justified in shipping from there so I was happy to try this and am almost evangelical about it lol.

As for getting wet when hanging out and fetching in I have to get wet to sort the chooks out and being short I can stand under the cover :D

Hope this helps
