BarbaraJ
No but i can sympathise i got back from Corfu 10days ago. i only got bitten on the last night and was using spray i have 3 bites which though not that itchy have red patches around them about 11/2'' the lady in the chemist said if they don't go in few days go to docs but put hydrocortisone on them first. I'm already on 2 lots of anti hist a day anyway for something else i dread to think what they would be like if i wasn't lol
Snowy
Definitely try the 1% hydrocortisone cream from the chemist. Worth asking the pharmacist to have a look whilst you are there, just in case they have become infected, in which case you may need antib's. Nasty mozzies
Helen&Lee
Tiger Balm. I've seen it in Boots. When I lived in the Middle East this was the answer to everything. It takes the itchiness out of mozzie bites (and the inflamation) and is good for headaches and other aches too. Downside - it's got quite a powerful smell, a bit like deep heat / eculyliptis (sp) Magic stuff. NB. No tigers injured in the production of Tiger Balm. ..lay a little egg for me
Avon Skin so soft works for me No noticeable effect for me. In fact the first time I tried it, I walked outside and two mozzies landed on my arm and bit me immediately. Did not notice any reduction in itching either. I go to Sweden every summer to our summer house where there are lots of mozzies. I react pretty badly to them with swollen bites that itch for at least a week after being bitten. I've tried everything both to stop them biting (extra strength Jungle Formula with its high concentration of DEET is the only thing that seems to work) and to stop the itching (nothing works) and to stop my reaction to the bites (antihistamines had no effect, hydrocortisone cream had no effect, oral steroids had a mild effect). Sorry I can't help but if anyone else comes up with something I haven't tried, I'll happily trial it for you next summer!!! I will definitely give the Tiger Balm a go... redbug
I've heard that if you eat garlic a lot or take garlic tablets supposed to keep mozzies away biting you in the first place.

keyhole kate
My cousin (phlebotomist) told me they can tell what blood group you are from your sweat and they go for the commoner groups first sneaky little devils anyway I digress She told me to take brewers yeast tablets for two weeks before you go and whilst on hols and the little blighters leave you alone and find another victim as this is secreted & changes your sweat to put them off (the mossies "Ooops, word censored!"ody else ) I am on warfarin (thin blood ) so they never bother with me I tell DH he is my bait

Helly Welly
What about one of those clicker things that gives a minor electric pulse when you press the button. I've always found these great for any insect bite. I think Boots sell them.

Cinnamon
I react really badly to mozzie bites & have had a couple go septic too They seem to really go for me,despite me having one of the rarer blood groups Anyhow,I got some great stuff in Boots, its in a little pump spray which is white & is Australian I think. Kept it with me all summer long this year & it really worked. Wish I could remember the name................................

Eggaboo
I'm a mozzie expert!!!!!!!!!! believe me, moving to nz, they live in my garden and bite me whenever they get a chance. All i can offer after you have been bitten is tiger balm, and aloe vera. tiger balm reduces swelling and is great for itching. Aloe vera really helps with any swelling you might get from a bite. Anti histamine work to certain degree but prevention seems to do better for me. So lots of spray before you go out and long sleeves and long trousers do help, i know it doesn't feel like it at the time but its worth it when you don't get bitten. Stay away from any stagnant water and just try to cover up at night. eggaboo
..lay a little egg for me
I'm a mozzie expert!!!!!!!!!! believe me, moving to nz, they live in my garden and bite me whenever they get a chance. It was the NZ mozzies that started me reacting to insect bites! I used to be fine, no reaction before I visited NZ, then one night we inadvertently camped near a river and, it was a hot night, so we did not have the tent properly zipped up. In the morning I found I had been bitten by about a million mozzies since that day I have reacted to all insect bites with swollen red bites that itch and weep for about a week.
