laurmurf
We're all so proud! this is the first day in decades I've not been embarassed about where I come from. My half Brit half American children have been told to be proud of who they are today! I was afraid that narrow minded bigotry might rule the day and I'm so proud that intelligence, liberality and fairness have brought crowds out to vote in record numbers! alih
I am delighted - you are right, a victory for sense and intelligence. Just heard jesse jackson on the radio and it made me cry! And I have to say mcCain was gracious in his address, though I was horrified by the booing of his crowd when he mentioned Obama - think I must be very British believing in graciousness in defeat! Guest
well, not quite a new president....yet. The sooner we get rid of Bush the better! I think the best man won or at least I hope so. It's a relief that that creationist woman isn't going to be vice president, phew! I'm worried that this will draw out every looney white supremesist from the woodwork, I just hope he'll be okay
susanbb
The security around this family will be immense. Apparently they had 3inch security glass around them during the speech.
Seagazer
I think its fantastic and it brought a tear to my eye this morning. I was trying to explain to my YS what a momentous thing it was for America, I'm not sure he realised what all the fuss was about. It will be interesting to see what sort of a president he will be. Angels4
Presidant Barak Obama, Mr. Presidant......Quite a fabulous sound. I'm sitting here crying tears of joy. Our country has FINALLY done something right. Change is in the air and I can't explain in words how thrilled I am for Presidant Obama and for the US
chelsea
So pleased for you Mark and your fellow Americans. At last common sense won over. I feel there are going to be big changes. Even though im not into politics at all I am a good judge of character and go by first impressions. Obama is a family man from a normal working class background, im so happy he got elected. All we've got to do now is get rid of that idiot Gordon Brown and I'd be estatic!

Tessa the Duchess
I am thrilled Obama got in, it's been a very up and down battle. I stayed up until 3.30am watching BBC news just to make sure he was successful. Now he has got to start implementing the 'change' he has been going on about, I do hope he does. Tessa. Tessa the Duchess
How many of us are so relieved that Sarah Palin won't be vice president? I know I am Big relief all round here. The thought that if McCain had won and then anything happened to him, that Sarah Palin would become President and be the leader of the 'free' world was just to scarey to think about.
