Redwing
I got a new chicken today (The Oxford Chicken Keeper thread explains how!) I am not going to tell my OH about her This is an experiment in to the average chap's ability to notice things under his nose. I reckon it will be a good couple of days before he clocks on A chicken in a cage in the garden must be obvious! I hear you cry. lets see..... wombatally
I'll bet you end up telling him before he notices!! I tried this and couldn't keep it to myself
Daphne
yes - aren't you dancing about in a 'I'm so happy I can't contain myself' sort of way? (bearing in mind the circs - I was reading the thread this morning). Or would that just be me
Janty
It's a scientific experiment...I applaud you for being so selfless in your research.
Hendy
I've considered doing this too! I reckon if I got one on a Monday it would be at least the weekend before he noticed, maybe later! Keep us updated...

Guest
my husband is more likely to be the one to get another chicken, it's me that has to keep saying "No, we're up to our limit!" Then yesterday, his mother says on the phone "I'll buy you another one after Christmas".
Plum
No! another reason I have to keep looking on the forum. Im never going to get my assignments done. Just off to read the other thread. You are WICKED. Like your style. Edited to add - think he might notice on friday when you are swanning around in Perth that there is a dog crate in the garden. Robbo1962
I 'aquired' a new hen! and planned a cunning intro under the cover of darkness but was rumbled when the auto light flicked on and I was caught red handed sneaking accross to the cube to hide said hen! He was fine about and actually named her! I tested him this morning and he got all the names correct! Happy Christmas everyone! Sara
The Dogmother
My favourite stunt is to go out (with the chicken box) to get a replacement hen... having spent ages finsing a breeder who has just what I want. ......then coming back with 4 like I did last time Rosie just shakes her head
Cinnamon
Its a shame you can't use the trick I do on my Hubby each time I get a new top. Take it out of the machine in his view & say 'oh, this old thing' A chicken might look a bit suspicious though............................. Redwing
SPRUNG! Unfortunately my OH couldnt sleep and got up at 5:15, he let the girls out obviously not realising the new one was in the Eglu About half an hour later when I was cleaning my teeth he came in to the bathroom and said "we have four chickens" I feigned surprise and told him to go and count them again (just to let the confusion set in a bit more) Now my OH is a reasonably bright bloke but what he then said had me in stitches... Counting on his fingers he said: "two of them are clucking at each other and two are watching but the two that are clucking at each other are the same hen" They are both the same colour and not actually the same hen (bit more water with it next time Mr Redwing!) Chotu went in her dog cage for the rest of the day after some porridge but I was surprised to see that the time she did spend with the others seemed noisy but violence free thankfully
