The Good Life continued....

Recommended Posts

No day off :(

The eggs are hatching - two have pipped at the moment, so a quick drive to Ross and back - that will take 4 hours.

Also, the carpenter is here and working to my designs so it is better if I'm around. Of course................. that work should have been done last week :?

I bet you're disappointed Lesley. Can you plan your trip for another day?

We stopped in Ross-on-Wye for afternoon tea on our way to Wales last month. It seemed a lovely place.

Great news Lesley! None from us yet, but will keep you updated. I am hoping one of the two fertile barnie eggs will be a hen - fingers crossed!

Lesley, I have another broody bantam if you want to borrow her - she's big and fluffy, a black pekin called Lily.

Ross on Wye is where our bunnies came from - the breeder lives there, it's a lovely place and lots of great walks to do round there too.

We are out all day Saturday, so it's bound to happen then

It's still been quite a restful day. We collected the trailer and were there and back in exactly 4 hours. The chick hadn't hatched.

It hatched about an hour ago but is still in half the shell. Lauren and Jake are coming any minute to see it. There are three more nearly ready.

The carpenter has nearly finished - he had to go, but is also coming back in a minute.

Have to go - we've just caught another cat in the trap and there is time to get him to the vet  What they are going to make of a cat called Mog, I don't know

8) I like workmen! I'm still trying to track down my electrician

Glad to hear you've caught Mog - off with his cherries!

Phil's brother brought home a kitten from a s"Ooops, word censored!" yard - it's called 'S"Ooops, word censored!"pie',although Pete just calls it Puss  . Some people we know in Norfolk have a cat called bathmat because it's the same colour as....

Which remind me that I've just booked Biscuit in for his 'nadger-ectomy' in November

Sorry - this is my first visit today - we had a bad night

We were waiting for news from my son who was due to land at Luton last night from Romania but was diverted to Stansted. He should have been home at 10.30pm but we eventually received a call at 5am :? We couldn't sleep so kept an eye on the chicks and Carl kept an eye on his new trailer

We have 4 chicks under the lamp and one more is still tapping its way out of the egg - hope he makes it as it has been some time now.

We seem to have two of one colour - fairly dark - and two slightly lighter.

I will post a photo tomorrow - I'm too tired to remember how the camera works

Mog is back from the vets - he was very scared and Carl's car now smells...... um........ lovely  He took him in my car so I'm glad he picked him up in his own car  He's resting overnight in the spare shed - I don't fancy the chances of getting him out as easily as we did the two girls.

Willow would have been producing three more kittens - a sad end but she is far too young to be coping with the kittens she had let alone some more. I'm glad the vet saw that as well and didn't let her proceed. She can now live her life as a happy outdoor cat.

We caught Willow and Peach twice more  - and Willows little kitten  The kitten is too small to visit the vet and we are worried that she will become pregnant before she is big enough to be neutered :? Lauren has named her Amber - the colour of her eyes (the kitten, not Lauren  )

I think Lesleys were Heinz 57's. Not sure though!

if they were Heinz 57s that would make them bantum beans....

:lol::lol::lol:

These are pure breed Barnevelder Bantams - I set 6 eggs - and also 4 Cream Legbar which are due to hatch on Sunday. You have to turn off the terning cradle when the chicks start to make a crack in the egg, so we've been turning the Legbar eggs manually. The Legbar eggs are now back to being turned automatically.

The last chick hatched last night but it's touch and go as it took 2 days to get out of the shell and is quite weak. We've syringed some water into its beak last night and sloppy yoghurt this morning and put it in a box on its own, in a nest made out of a sock. Five out of six is a good hatch rate.

Mog is out of the shed and has run off to hide. He did a good impression of Louise's avatar

I know what you mean I had a stray cat that used to let himself into the house at night to eat and sleep I didn't mind as he did no damage but because he was entire he really stank so I caught him and got him done (for free by a vet friend) and kept him overnight to recover when I opened the trap he shot off and has never been seen since :lol:

It's a shame as he was a nice cat I called him Pirate
