Stop Press- Northern despatch and dress course

Recommended Posts

Just catching up before Saturday :D. To save me reading back through the threads could some kind organised soul do a list for what is required for Saturday - didn't realise we would need our own knives, so it is possible I have missed other things too!

Thank you. :D

No, I don't think you need to take your own knife- I was more thinking of the dead 'un we have to do ourselves at home

You need to take an apron - Alison provides the rest. A cool box to take your chicken home - perhaps two so that you can keep your boned chicken separate from the feathered one you take home.

We didn't get anything on our old clothes we wore but we did take spare clean clothes as we went on to visit Christian and I think most of you are meeting up for lunch?

I think the 2nd one is plucked, just not gutted - that's what OH did with Alison when he went in December.

I have just been rummaging around for mine, which appears to have gone walkabout! I guess I will have to buy one from her on the day as I won't have time to go into town before the course now

Whilst I won't need one on the course, I am going to need a boning knife when I get home - any recommendations and will I need anything else to prepare the chicken we take home? :D

OOOHHHH

Forgot to say B would like the Beef & Yorkshires too- is he too late to order his food? I only told him about the food on Wednesday, so it's my fault for not letting you know sooner

Sorry ....he'll have to wait outside in the car. Just kidding.....I'm sure there'll be plenty. :D

Oh dear :(:( I have had to email Alison to cancel my place.

My husband goes into hospital on the 23rd to have a long-standing problem with his nose fixed. It was broken as a lad and he is finding it increasingly difficult to breathe at night resulting in the most appalling snoring at times.

He will, no doubt bleed, drip and complain for the first few days and generally be unable to cope.

I was so looking forward to the course, meeting fellow omleteers and some excellent post course black pudding.

I am booked on the 11am slot if anybody has the chance to go.

sorry we'll miss you DA, i was really looking forward to meeting you! I do hope your OH understands the level of sacrifice you've made for him (oh and that his op goes well too... i suppose  )

I'm just about to have my cup of tea & make my flask of coffee for the journey

We are leaving Warrington at 9.30, so should make good time. We have a sat nav & Poachedegg has printed off your instructions, Egluntine, so hopefully we won't get lost.

I feel excited, like I do when I am setting off on holiday :D

It does feel like that doesn't it  . I even bought a big bag of Maynards winegums for the car last night from the petrol station when I filled up, and we only ever have sweets in the car on holiday journeys. I must have been in that mindset :D .

Oh wow, lemon drizzle cake drooooooooool. We must see your girls Egluntine. Can't come to Sheffield and not have a tour of Egluntine towers.

Why am I still on here  , I need to get ready  .

Just got back from Sheffield. It was a great day and a fantastic course, highly recommended!

We certainly had some eventful moments, including converting some passing Rainbow Guides to early vegetarianism or animal activism!

Much kudos to Egluntine for organising it all and arranging a rather yummy dinner, we were all famished after our hard morning's plucking and boning!

I must say that Mostin's stronger than she looks, it's certainly no way to treat a potential chicken of fate
